DAY 64 DUmmies Held Hostage

The DUmmies seem to think this "article" has answered all the questions about Andy Stephenson's unethical and possibly illegal fund-raising campaign. They seem to think this love note to Andy in a Seattle-based, "alternative", weekly "newspaper" (which is absolutely FREE, because no one would pay for it and that's the only way it can be distributed) vindicates him (and them).

But nothing could be further from the truth. I know DUmmies don't like the truth but the truth doesn't care how they feel about it.

The only thing this "article" does is raise another question: What is George Howland Jr.'s DU user name?

Andy and his friends have done just about everything possible to obscure what is truly going on. This has been going on for almost 2 months now.

Andy's friend, Beth, started a fundraiser on DU to raise $50k that was purportedly for pancreatic cancer surgery, and the $50k had to be given to the hospital, Johns Hopkins, up front before the surgery. The alleged surgery date was May 10. The surgery was then cancelled and at different times 3 different "reasons" were given for why it was cancelled, all of those reasons contradicting the others. He ended up having some type of surgery on May 25.

Andy has never ONCE himself uttered the words "I have cancer", he has used other leading words and phrases like "I have a tumor", etc. His fundraisers and friends are the ones who keep saying cancer and that he would die without this surgery. To this date, this stands. And Andy and his friends have said they will post proof of a cancer diagnosis (first offered back on May 2 and as recently as about 10 days ago). Nada.

There is no accounting of the fundraiser no matter what Beth is saying. The method she used to keep track was asking people to email her what they were pledging/sending. That's it. I'm sure she meant well in heading this thing up, but the fact of the matter is that all the money raised went to Andy directly (to his paypal and amazon accounts, and to his P.O. Box in Seattle).

The fundraiser is not registered with the Secretary of State of WA State, although they are now allegedly working on it, but it is currently not registered. The only reason they are registering it is because they were told by "questioners" that they needed to, and at first they scoffed at it and called people liars.

Lastly the Goonie Brigade surrounding Andy has threatened people who ask questions about the fundraiser with things ranging from revealing their identities on the internet (in a couple of cases it's already happened), charging them with "crimes", siccing lawyers after them, and accusing them of trying to murder Andy. It's been totally crazy. Now ask yourself, if you called a fundraiser or charity to inquire about it and got that kind of response, what would you think?

Anyway, there's a little summary, but because it's all so convoluted I couldn't possibly cover it all.

127. i think you should let me refund your donation, your gift. then, all your concerns about fundraising wouldn't matter, since you are the only one harping about it in this thread.
again, i offer to return your gift, so you would have no reason to feel that you are entitled to something, as you would if you purchased something. giving is different than buying, btw.

Why do these people feel that unless you donated, you cannot question? Why do these people try to buy people's silence on all of this? I have news for "noiretblu", the Washington SOS didn't donate and yet they can ask all sorts of interesting questions.

Malva could make back three or four times her donation, were she a scam artist. On the other hand, I wouldn't send any personal info to goodboy, or any of the andyites because they are so delusional there's no telling how they would use my personal info.

I really hope whoever knew the woman that donated her child support checks to team Andy tells her ex-spouse.

That money was meant for his children, not for her to donate to any cause, no matter how good and noble that cause might be.

That thread perfectly demonstrates why any reasonable person would think it's a scam. ANYTIME ANYONE ANYWHERE begins to ask reasonable questions about the MONEY, this is the response they get from the Cult of Andy Stephenson at DU.

Amazona makes a plea for no more fund-raisers (gee, now why would she ever do that?) and Malva Zebrina agrees and asks the same questions that have never been answered. And look who shows up to beat her into submission, the usual suspects:

At least 9 DUers gang up on Malve. Now why be so defensive if they have nothing to hide and the whole thing is on the up and up? Go read it yourself and see what they do to Malve. They seem more like members of some street gang than generous and helpful people who kindly raised money to help a sick friend.

This type of behavior has happened time and time again in many forums, not only DU.

But we are the villains. Yeah, right.

Has anyone submitted this to Snopes yet for inclusion in their database?

I can see it a year from now, when "Andy Needs Your Help" emails have been passed from person to person in an never ending chain, people will go to Snopes to see whether this is a scam or not and there, waiting for them, will be the perp walk photo of Andy and the original complaint that started the investigation.

I just don't see why someone would offer to send money back in order to shut down discussion, rather than just answering the questions and posting the proof that would stop this in its tracks.

Andy could have nipped all of this in the bud back on May 2nd or so. No, he won't do it. Apparently he enjoys the attention.

He could end it now, even. Post the DX and some financial records with the means to verify their authenticity and he could shut everyone down cold, now couldn't he?

He has ample time to threaten and defame Bev over at DU but can't be bothered to clean up this mess he has made.
