Okay - I'm a teacher on vacation and watching Fox news.
It's 11:00 in the morning and an ad comes on for "KY massage and personal lubricant." The husband lights up when the wife says "personal lubricant" and she says it again at the end of the ad and winks. There is a clear sexual tone to the ad.
Is it me or is this out of bounds?
Anyone else see it?
I'm calling FOX and I'll post what happens.
maybe one day China will by the cable companies and it'll all be "public"
Personally, I believe that any product should be allowed to advertise on cable/sattelite tv. Part of that pesky freedom and liberty concept.
like i said, i am not a prude and anyone with kids generally gets where the woman that posted this thread is coming from. the CHANGE THE CHANNEL, DON"T GET CABLE, WHY AREN"T THEY PLAYING OUTSIDE b.s. is just that. i speak freely and comfortably with my kids about sex when it is called for, and having it prompted by an oversexualized tv commercial fries my behind. : )
Oh gee, you're missing out on PBSKIDS.
But to follow your line of thought:
You are standing in line at an amusement park with two small children - a group of teens hanging out start an argument and loudly begin to hurl curse words at each other. What do you do? You planned a day with kids, you paid the admission price - do you have a right to complain and ask someone to have them stop?
how did they find time to run the KY ad between Lavitra and Cialis ?
was the country less free before the oversexualization of society made it commonly palatable?
I didn't find this one to be overtly sexual. Now the one where the daughter an her boyfriend start dryhumping to beat the band, then mom & dad do the same - that is wrong.
They KY one seems to be more irritating because you know what it's for. I really doubt the kids do, nor will they get it from the ad. The dentyne, however, implies directly to kids that one stick of gum & it's ok to hump your BF/GF on your parents couch right in fromt of them, and they will in turn do the same.
I guess where I live, it's always been a distinction without a difference. We can't get any TV reception without cable. And in this day and age, from a decency in broadcasting perspective, kids are much more likely to be watching cable, it's certainly no less accessible.
I'm "of that age" and I think the mind set that we "need" KY is an advertising ploy. I've never used it, and I don't "suffer."
Well the Tin Man did ask for his Oil Can. And while you're down there Dorothy.
I know. Oil can what?
The gum commercial! I hate that one! How rude to end up on top of the boy on the sofa with Dad sitting right there! lol..... So glad I wasn't the only one that didn't like that.......
Not a very good analogy. To make it work, the teens in front of you need to be speaking in vague terms, talking around the actual subject at hand.
It's perfectly possible for kids to miss the nature of the commercial. Not like screamed obscenities at all.
Hard liquor and cigarettes to name 2 two products were a staple of tv advertising. With cigarettes being one of the largest sponsors of many television programs and hosts such as Johnny Carson smoking a specific brand during the broadcast. In fact, almost ALL television hosts smoked for advertising purposes.
Then you are obviously not suffering. Isn't that obvious?
You know that monthly bill you get from the cable company? Try not sending a check in with it and see how long it is until you don't get the cable stations any more.
That T-shirt is awesome
well then let's not flyspeck it, you know there is a problem with sexual saturation and this poster chose to go off about KY, the problem is the coarsening of society, period. i have to do the in depth nitty gritty sex talk with the 11 yo this summer, bc she is showing signs of puberty. my 13 yo son is subjected to the "BJs are sex and don't you let anyone tell you otherwise" talk when he is my captive in the car on the way to hockey practice. the other mothers and i have talked about it and we figure the point needs to be made early and often, before any experience is had and that point is occuring at younger and younger ages thanks to the problems of oversexualizing of society.
Welcome to FR by the way...
