In the 60's Bakersfield had lots of famous rock bands stop by on their way in or out of LA. I went to many of them; but I couldn't tell you which. I was just an air-headed kid who went with those who had good taste.
It was fun. I sure wish I could remember which was whom.
Oddly, in about 1971? Eric Burdon and War played at a college dance at a local community college. I remember dancing right next to Eric Burdon--who was wasted and had a leather purse. I had loved his music and was dis-enamored by seeing his slide down.

Great story! Eric Burdon went downhill quick after disbanding the Animals. They reunited in 1977 and I saw them in 1978 or 79. They were very good. I was shocked!

His wife, my potential Mom-in-Law, played flute and would jam ocassionally. Eric gave my fiance's father some of his gold records (couldn't have been many) He subsequently sold them for drugs.
