Robert Plant, Cap Center, Landover, MD, July 16, 1990 - finally got to see The Man, right at his solo commercial height, after having huge (and five-star, IMHO) albums with Shaken-n-Stirred, Now and Zen, and Manic Nirvana. Took my Chinese squeeze with me - she had on idea who he was, but she got an education as to who the grandaddy of rock frontmen was. The show was tight and top-heavy with his best stuff - and it was the first tour he'd performed Zeppelin material since Bonzo died. Man, we'd heard the rumors about about it (back in those pre-Internet days), but when the house lights went down, we held our collective breath. Then, out of the darkness, came that classic, sonic opening riff to 'Nobody's Fault But Mine'. The place had a collective, screaming orgasm. From there on, it was downhill at warp speed. Everyone wondered if he still had the chops to hit those banshee-like high notes (he was only 41 at the time, fer chrissakes, but that was old when you're only 27! LOL), but he went over the top on everything in his set list. He even did our own Viking Kitty anthem, 'Immigrant Song'. Man, to hear That Voice doing so much of what we'd heard on the radio growing up, and which he swore he'd never sing again out of respect to the band's legacy - that was a special concert.

Hey, I'm not even a Zep fan, but you made that sound pretty awesome!
