Microsoft is desperately trying to get into those markets with cheap Windows.
There is no doubt Linux will spread as computer use spreads, probably with a larger share of users than in the US currently.
One topic the author doesn't mention is piracy. I wonder how prevalent pirated copies of MS Windows are now, with most computers on the web.
