I don't know when he said it, but quite a few freepers have mentioned it since Saturday, including on the Sunday morning talk show thread.
My brother went to a Rev. Graham revival and said it was one of the most powerful, memorable events in his life, aside from the birth of his two daughters.
I wasn't sure if you were joking about Lott? I'm not a fan of his, but did think his remarks were harmless as they were made at a birthday party for a quite elderly man who did have an extraordinary man.
We have African American friends who absolutely detested Thurmond when they first moved here. But since we're in S.C. and he used to live in town, our local paper wrote about him frequently. Once they started to read about the man, their opinion changed pretty dramatically.
I see there was another earthquake along the Pacific Rim.
Rainy and cool morning here on the N OR coast.
Today is Ten Commandments ruling day by SCOTUS. I'm almost afraid.

Graham has INSTANTLY dropped at least AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE in my opinion of him with these embarrasing, awful, disgusting statements. And Bill Bennett, addressing this on his show earlier, made an awful mistake saying that Graham will have a good presentation of himself to his Maker. I BEG to disagree, Dr. Bennett. None of us will have 'a good presentation' to our Maker, because only Christ can stand before our Maker in front of us to make a case for us. HUGE mistake, Dr. Bennett.
Good morning. I'm having a slow start this morning but need to get going on the day. All I can think about Rev. Graham is that Clinton must have so much charisma that people say foolishly nice things about him.
Good morning. I would like to weigh in on this Graham/UOX42 thing. I am very disturbed by it. It is one thing to love the sinner but here we also see no hatred but rather excuses for the sin.It may not be UO's fault (please excuse me calling him by his first name) women are enamoured of him but that does not excuse the sin ofadultery. Or lying, or raping, or treason, or.... I don't know what is said between them in private conversations but the message that is coming out is that it is okay to do whatever and then just claim Jesus and you will do alright. THAT IS NOT THE GOSPEL MESSAGE. It is straight from Hell and it smells like smoke! Repentance doesn't involve just saying, "I was wrong," but it also requires a 180 degree turn away from the sin.
I heard Graham say yesterday on Larry King that hell was made for Beelzebub and his followers and that God wants humans to go to heaven. That much is true. However, humans who do not come to God through Jesus will be going to hell. Graham did not do anyone a favor by not being clear about that. He only presented part of the picture.

Billy Graham also said something Clinton, with his chrisma, could become a minister and have "something to do while his wife was running the country" AND THAT IS WHEN I HIT THE MUTE BUTTON!!!! and changed channels.
I once heard some reporter talking about an interview with Graham, years ago. When the interviewer asked Grtaham about if he thought he would hear the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant", Graham just stared off into space with a terrified look on his face. Only each one of us knows in our hearts if we are washed in the blood of the Lamb and if He will be the propitiation of our sins when we stand before the Lord.
I know, bev. I didn't watch it, but heard about it this morning. It is unbelievable, and my disgust with Graham for spewing this ridiculous and DANGEROUS garbage has me questioning whether Graham should retire today permanantly and not do another crusade. At least Franklin Graham seems to carry the conservative philosophy.
UO may have been a minister, but then so is Jesse Jackson. There have been countless ministers whose behavior disgraced their office. UO would have been a minister of the same cloth. He is not needed.
I have no problem with Graham being wrong politically. But, when he waters down the gospel of Christ, I take strong exception. Being a Christian permeated every fiber of a person's being. You cannot go to church one day and then to your neighbor's wife the next.
permeated = permeates
That might be bogus, but hearing is such a precious gift.
Maybe Graham was doing the same thing, but somehow it seemed to me that his remarks about the Clintons were really over the top and I was uncomfortable hearing him say such complimentary things to this particularly sinful couple and thus giving them and their future hopes a boost. Graham's glow dimmed for me personally.
I'm listening to the talk shows and it appears obvious to me that the clXXXons pulled a sneak attack to get in front the camera, also knowing that the old man isn't about to turn them away, capitalizing on his feebleness and good-natured personality, using him to the maximum advantage to further their political carreers, and I fear greatly, may have been just the move they needed to get hiXXXy elected in '08.
Thank you for your suggestion and concern. I will be careful with them...and maybe it isn't such a good idea for gulfcoast6 to get a set.
Personally, I would stay far away from that pair. When the lightning bolt finally descends, it is going to be a doozy!
Yes, Jem, I agree that Graham can believe whatever he wants politically. You are not the only one that takes STRONG exception to him watering down the gospel of Christ. He should know better.....or he is becoming senile and can't control his thoughts anymore. It will be something that he will have to answer for one way or another.
WOW! (my post #59) We are on the same train of thought about the senility and the devil's couple using and working the old geezer to their advantage, Jane.
