ZOT! Military Recruiting Drive
NONE ^ | 6/24/05 | bohdi777

Posted on 06/24/2005 2:57:54 AM PDT by bohdi777

I am trying to start a recruiting campaign to help out our military with their current recruiting shortage. One of my buddies is working as a recruiter right now and he told me about all the problems he is facing. I figured FR would be the best place to come to put something like this together because of the political leanings and the willingness to stand up and fight against terrorism. I've been here before and mostly perused the site without joining but i thought this was important enough to join. Basically what i am trying to do is start a grassroots campaign of teachers, football coaches, parents, etc. of the conservative mindset that would be willing to try and recruit one person each to serve in the military. They recently raised the age to 38 for the reserves so even some us old timers might have a go at it.

If you can help please feel free to e-mail me or post any ideas about getting something like this started.

I have never understood why people with a handicap could not serve in an office position or a billet that did not require perfect health. This would free up the others to get out in the field or whatever.

You are maggot infested puke in the belly of a rotting mold covered skunk laying bloated in a fetid swamp.
Oh, and your mother said to tell you hello.

Who the CIC was mattered when I was in.
We thoroughly hated Clinton, wished he'd eat bad fugu or something.
Pun intended.

You probably shouldn't try to sign back up using a numerically sequential handle.

Thank you for your service...

Thank you, ALL of you, for your continued support.

I know I've got it easy on the ship, and contact with those on the ground is rare. But to me, it is amazing when we have to send a rescue detachment into Iraq or nearby (to fix a broken jet) and the folks we send talk to Marines or Soldiers on the ground.

The ground pounders all want to know about OUR cruise so far, what liberty ports we've seen or will see, if we've had Wendy's, KFC, etc. and how many months we've been away from home.

To a man, those that talk to them say the guys eating sand are motivated, extremely proud of what they do, and truly happy just to talk to an "outsider" for a night. They share stories; but mainly want to hear ours.

But thanks for the thanks. Believe me when I say we pass those "thank you"s on to the ones sleeping in the sand whenever we can.

"You are wrong!! The military does care who the CIC is. They know that he is their boss."

My original post said:
"I don't think who is CIC matters much. They couldn't meet recruitment goals in the Clinton years and aren't even coming close to meeting those goals now..."

As you can see, I made no reference to the military. I would certainly expect the military to know who the CIC is. I would also be extremely upset with the recruiter that signed someone up and they still don't know who the CIC is. I'd wonder how the hell that person passed any tests at all.

"Who the CIC was mattered when I was in."

Ok... once again... my original post read:
"I don't think who is CIC matters much. They couldn't meet recruitment goals in the Clinton years and aren't even coming close to meeting those goals now. Kids now want to go to college and then find a job.

The topic is recruiting, and problems with recruiting, not people that served in the military past, present or future.

And once AGAIN "I don't think who is CIC matters much.'
It mattered GREATLY when I was in.
Understand?

Do you really think who the CIC is matters to the average 18 - 24 year old kid on the street? Do you think he/she can name him? Undoubtedly, there are some that know who he is, and it does matter to them. But I'm saying there's a significant number of kids that don't know and don't care and therefore it makes no difference on whether or not he/she will enlist. While this is sad, it is true.

One thing all these kids do know is that there's a war going on. One thing we know is that the war in Iraq is the #1 reason these kids aren't joining. In peacetime they'd be joining to get the job skills and their college paid for. But this isn't peacetime and they're well aware of it. And who the CIC is doesn't matter either way.

I will reiterate: It mattered GREATLY when I was in.
I was in from 1996 to officially 2002.
The last two years were spent "ING" -inactive national guard.
You do the math.
My entire service was spent during the Clinton years.
It mattered GREATLY to those 17 year olds.
They didn't want to go die in the Balkans because bubba wanted to take attention off of his Hoover vacuum girl.
They wanted to serve HONORABLY.
Clinton, by definition, dishonored the military every chance he got.
YES, it mattered greatly.

I know, I tried to join the Air Force for mechanic. An they said since I was on medication that I couldn't join.
