What are your words/thoughts on the loss of your private property rights?
I haven't had this feeling since 9/11, and right now the thought of leaving the country seriously sounds like a good idea.

I always think this is true of school boards too. They are most often elected.

I don't live in a blue state, so maybe I don't have so much to fear. Most initiatives here would go similar to what McClintock would propose.

The SCOTUS, just like the thug(in this instance) is the enabler. But not the actual thief. Furthermore, Pfizer is the thief not the politician.
I do understand what you're saying, and I agree. But the judges here are villain #1. They are in a position where they are (directly)shielded from the ballot box, and they just told the thief he is allowed to steal.

Now that they're awake, the people in Connecticut need to pressure lawmakers there to close this loophole, and amend the Connecticut state consitutution if necessary.
I sense that the vast majority of FReepers don't know what the eminent domain laws are in their individual states. They need to find out. This is a great opportunity for local activism to fix the problem.
All elections are local.
I suggest to those who are upset over this decision that you attend your local city council meeting. Most city councils have an opportunity for the public to address the members with items of concern to them. Prepare a short statement, mention this vote, then ask the council members to consider the need to take our private property. The ask them to pass a resolution vowing that eminent domain would be used only for specific defined benefits to the public: schools, roads, parks, for example. Specifically demand that this power not be used simply for financial benefits.

If Europe would have the freedom that we enjoy here, I don't think that they would change. Eventually they would change, but in a wrong way. They would become more evil, more perverse, more hostile. You cannot erase their history, their mentality, and their culture by simply introducing a new law.
Remember, in Europe, you can travel 7 hours in one direction and you will go through 2 different countries where they speak completely different languages. Europeans have never been able to realize what it is like to have unity, because of the language barriers. Imagine what America would be like if each state spoke a different language, and each state had its own different agenda and history and culture. This country would be a mess. We would feel isolated, and we would be hostile toward each other. It would affect our entire way of life and history.
America is what it is because of its people. In the beginning, only the most determined, the most upset, and the most freedom-thirsty people got on the boat to come to America. And we can thank them what we are today.
The good laws which protect our freedoms are the result of smart, Godly men who had come to America for a reason. It all started with the right people at the right place. Then, those people wrote the Constitution and the laws. The Europeans could write a Consitution like ours, but they can't because they don't have those kind of people that we had. We had the right mix of people in the beginning. They don't have that.
That's why you have to be prepared for a more advanced method. Odds are the gurney at Terre Haute will serve just fine ~ once these people are tried and convicted of course ~ wouldn't want to kill someone without a trial you know. After all, I'm not a judge.
