Siri was rebuilding the Samoa Road across the bay from us in 58 and we talked the city council to give them a few bucks to grade some sad dunes over there and put down base for our drag strip. We later got the council to use airport funds to pave it and the Samoa Drag strip has been in use since 1958 or 59...

Just so everybody knows, the Pepsi 400 is an impound race (that means you take Rocket at your own peril).

"Like I said, watching 360 with Kenny and company was THE highlight. The laugh is what drew people in (well, Rusty had to listen to it his whole life). He's definitely an upbeat person, and is always willing to take time out for the fans (he had a Sharpie handy for autographs during that rain delay, and came out to pose for pictures with the fans during the commercials). No wonder why he got some serious cheers in driver introductions."Another thing I was very impressed with about Kenny after watching Nascar 360 last year was his devotion to his wife and kids. He always took the time to say how much he loved them and how great they were. It looks like they all usually go to the races together.

It was fun, not the losing part, but at least I know I am in good company.

Hmmm. I don't think I want to discect that sentance. If we were in good company, would we be such LOSERS??? I don't mean to disparage the quality of FR Nascar Thread posters. They're wonderful folk. Actually, I'm in glee. I've been waiting for someone to join me at the bottom of the Fantasy League pit. It's kinda lonely down here. Don't get me wrong, I don't relish in anyone's misfortune. Nope.

"He should have kept the blonde that give it to him. ;0"No way!
Seriously though, I don't know how he will ever find a really nice girl who isn't after his fame and fortune. He's had one of those already that I know of.

Race for 35th - The top 33 teams (ending with the #0 of Mike Bliss) are guaranteed to stay in the top 35 coming out of Daytona (assumimg that the #77/#21/#43/#45/#0 entered in a timely fashin). The #22 of Scott Wimmer remains on the bubble in 34th, 69 points ahead of 36th. We do have a change in 35th; the one-race switch to Texas Terry paid off for the #11 FedEx Gibbs team, as they're now in 35th, 5 points ahead of the #4 Lucas Oil Morgan-McClure team (whose driver switch to a ringer didn't pay off). Another ringer switch that paied off was the #32 Tide PPI team, who closed to within 85 points of 35th.

"I'm looking at Flash and a bunch of Roush cars. Jr's too snakebit at the moment"Flash got bit by something here lately too. I almost switched him out for Tony today, of course I'm kicking myself now that I didn't. Looking back at practice yesterday it was so obvious that Smoke had a hot car. Grrrrr.
To: WestCoastGal
6x optical zoom helps, as does 4 MP (it's a slow shutter though, which really hurts with either speed shots or night shots without the flash). Of course, the fact that it was "only" $240 was a major selling point.

Did ya'll hear one of the Fox guys say that the #2 Penske guys are after Martin Truex.
It's just ridiculous that DEI has not gotten his contract buttoned up and signed by now, it's been months. It would serve them right if he took a better deal.
To: WestCoastGal
I missed that. Good luck to him.
Too bad about DEI and the down cycle .. except for Mikey's win .

The vehicle is actually very good and practical for its target market. It may actually be so ugly as to be cool.
The Pontiac Aztec probably actually has the lock on ugly. Maybe it should have been called the Helen Thomas of SUVs. Perhaps the Element is the Mandy Grunwald.
