Prayers for our troops in the field , their families and our nation and allies as we wage war against Terrorism locally and globally and our enemies, both foreign and domestic, including those serving in this nation's own highest institutions.
Setting up the 5 pit box (those are LCDs).
The 8 box (complete with Tracker seats up top)
What Brandon Miller hits on every stop (note the tongue sticking out; must be Happy's influence :-)
The 60 box (where I spent a good chunk of the race)
Edwards' second stop; right-sides on
And the lefts (where they discovered the broken shock; would have had pics of that, but the war wagon blocked the front of the car)
The jet dryers are out after the brief shower
The car-cover winner, the 44 Coast Guard Chevy of Justin Labonte
Bill Elliot and Tony Raines talking during the rain delay
Kenny Wallace talking to his pit crew (this was before the NASCAR Drivers 360 watching began in earnest)
Kenny and Michel Jourdain Jr (and others) watching NASCAR Drivers 360 (slightly-longer story in #299)
The track is ALMOST dry (they hadn't started on pit road, but a long line of showers and thunderstorms headed in shortly after this shot to stop the race for good.
The Women's US Open is on too..
A couple of youngsters leading in that one..
did you hear that Bruton Smith is talking about a oval at Sears Point.?

It wouldn't surprise me.
Thnaks for all the shots!
Go USCG!!!
Heard that a couple weeks ago. It would be a damn shame. Now Watkins Glen, on the other hand (mainly because they have to build the cars backwards for the right-side pits).
I've been to races low in the stand, high in the stands (splurged on the expensive, individual-seat 400 level when it opened in 2003), and now in the pits. The pits are definitely the place to be. As the MasterCard commerical would put it...
Parking - $5 (don't ask me how it's so cheap)
Pit pass - $55 (again, cheap)
Dewalt Racing cap to keep the head from being as scorched as my neck - $20
Being in the pits on race day - priceless
I think that FOX does a better job with their pre-race and commentating during the race. D.W. and Hammond are my two favorite commentators. The only that I like on NBC is B.P..
BTW, good picture. I would like to see the Free Republic logo on Mark's car. ;-)
You got it!
DW is a little scratchy today..
Weather looks OK.
I sure hope we don't have t'ar problems this week.
More likey crashes and spin outs!
CAUTION POOL:
I pick 7
I predict 12
7 sounds low,
I bet that many guys end up in the gravel patch alone. :)
Question; for road courses, does the caution pool count only full-course cautions, or are local cautions counted as well?
Full course. That way we can use official results.
3 full-course (remember, spins and trips into the gravel don't necessarily bring out full-course cautions).
if we can split them I'l guess 4 full course and 10 local cautions
West Coast Gal will be happy, Jr. just won the "Sexiest Driver" contest on FOX.
Question; for road courses, does the caution pool count only full-course cautions, or are local cautions counted as well?
good question
---
Junior is the sexiest driver, btw.
Looks like WCG's bank of auto dialers did its job. :)
