I have an older 30 Gig unit. I have 'collected' about 3,000 of my favorite songs. If I don't want a song, the PC makes a backup, or I can simply hit the 'delete' key.

But, although it's great travellign with a 'radio station' that never plays commericals, and ONLY plays songs you like; the unsung benefit to me is the fact that whatever space isn't being used for my music; serves as data storage and backup from my pc.

Digital pictures, files, programs, movies .... whatever are easily transported and played on just about ANY PC. It's a battery powered, portable hard drive too.

I have a 40 gig iPod Photo, and I have 7,346 songs on that puppy, mostly ripped from my extensive 30 year CD collection, now archived away.

I carry my entire CD collection and some downloaded songs as well, when I go to work, on vacation, you name it.

I want a charging iPod dock on the dashboard of my car and I'll have everything I need.

30 Gig? I wish! I bought the 1st gen 5 Gig, and it's still working just fine. I can't justify buying another, at least until the battery dies.

Oh, well, I guess I can suffer through carrying only 1,000 tracks with me.

My IPod has been a great help. I carry it while I walk (for the excersise), and since I have a lot of Keltic music I tend to walk much more biskly with the pod.
