Some of our most cherished memories in life revolve around sharing a drink with loved ones and friends. A fine bottle of Cabernet with your spouse on your anniversary. A 12 year old scotch with your father. Shots of tequila with the girl you've been after for months. Etc, Etc.
There are certainly people in our history and living today, that I would give my left nu.., er little toe, to share a beer and a long-winded conversation with. The following is off the top of my head, and hundreds more could be included:
LIVING:
3. Bob Dylan - my all time favorite enigmatic musician
2. Donald Rumsfeld - A real man amongst girly men
1. Mark Steyn - perhaps the most insightful, wittiest man on the planet
DEAD
3. Ernest Hemmingway - one of the few writers of fiction I love.
2. Ronald Reagan - The hero of our times
1. Ben Franklin - My alltime favorite historical figure.
Saul/Paul. Toss in St. Augustine and I'm there!
Standing or kneeling?
Good call on Joe Smith. But he likely did not drink.
I'm assuming only three people in each category (although by no means only one beer apiece):
Living:
Donald Rumsfeld (I think we all owe him at least one round, plus maybe a shot of Yukon if it was his birthday).
Howard Dean (just so I could tell him off, nah, on second thought I wouldn't waste the wish. Replace him with Zell Miller).
William F. Buckley - now there's a brain-bending evening at the local pub.
No longer with us:
Ronald Reagan (to thank him for being an inspiration to millions)
Thomas Jefferson (ditto)
Any of my aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. Just to be able to see them again.
This is the NOT TO HAVE A BEER WITH LIST? Or do you just want to get a hold of these characters?
I know he's got to have some good stories.
The hard part would be finding a place to meet. That guy gets around.
Dead:
1) General George Washington
2) Leonardo Da Vinci
3) Maimonides
Living:
1) P.J. O'Rourke
2) Thomas Sowell
3) Salma Hayek (hope she can't hold her liquor)
well done, Ms. Dasher. As long as Bosworth wasn't on it! ;O)
The current head of the CIA, no holds barred.
Paul McCartney: The last century's Mozart
Patton
Rummel
Isaac Newton
Apostle Paul
Someone dumber than I am whose made it big.
Now that I'm loaded I want a nice rib eye mediem rare, yams, mixed vegies and a Sprite.
That is a GIVEN!!
Who is the Tourist Guy? Rick Steives?
Is Tony Blair's wife too skank anymore to have a beer with?
Da Vinci !!!
Good choice... I would add him to my list.
Good list. Replace Selma with Neve Campbell and we'd have to fight for her after she passes out! :O)
Maggie Thatcher... yup. Jean Kirkpatrick... she could pound them down. Sir Winston... Georgie Patton... Chesty Puller.
William F. Buckley would be a good drinking buddy. Bogart 'fer sure... Bruce Willis.
But most of all... Ann Coulter!
LOL. Isaac Newton was an excellent chioice!
She seems to be a liberal ditz. But hey, I live on this side of the pond.
Bogart-Bacall was on my original list but got bumped by Tyson's boxing career.
