My roomate (1984-1985) was a thrash metal freak. He loved the stuff.
I couldn't listen to it. I was a Pink Floyd/Beatles/Hendrix/Black Sabbath guy. We each had stereos in our respective rooms, so we had regular contests to see who could crank our music the loudest.
It almost got violent, at times, but we never actually came to blows.
I got my metal head roomies hooked on Van Morrison, of all people! ;o)
