After receiving numerous complaints that the 1970s sucked and were not worthy of a vanity thread, here at the Pissant/CPOWife Research Center we've decided to select a decade that had more worthwhile activities to ponder. Though many positive events developed during the 1980s, there were plenty of stink-bombs as well. To further our research, we encourage everyone to participate in this scientific survey.
Without further ado, the Best and Worst of the 1980s:
I'm glad for that! ;o)
The Best - Being cute & being the life of the party at those frat parties.
The Worst - Having no real clear recollection of what the he!! happened at those frat parties! ;0)
When I was working in radio in the late 80's while in college, I got to meet The Bangles. They were all quite charming, and surprisingly really nice.
Fair enough!
I loved the "Cradle of Love" video!
Pissant is at it again....
Swing by for a discussion about the 80s!
The 80's were my 20s, too. But I thought Penny Loafers made their debut in the 50's. It was Docksiders and aligator logoed Izod polo shirts with the collar turned up that made the preppy look.
I was a closet Go Gos fan.
There. I said it.
"Friday Night Videos" was pretty good, but does anyone remember 'Night Tracks' on TBS?
Two three hour blocks of just videos, for those of us in MTV-deprived communities. On Friday night at about midnight, they played block a, then block b. On Saturday night at about midnight, they played block b, then block a.
Thus, one could potentially stay up both nights and see the entire rotation twice.
For even more in self-abuse, rent the movie!
That's Howard the Duck, and yes, I'm a little ashamed that I know that (even more ashamed that I paid to see it in a theatre).
It was advertised as a duck, but in reality it was a turkey.
Best movie of the 80s.
I remember it well.
Does anybody remember "Night Flight" on the USA network Friday and Saturday nights?
Best show on TV.
Sebastian Bach from Skid Row had an awesome voice and so did Geoff Tate from Queensryche, although I don't think it would be entirely accurate to describe Queensryche as a hair band.
Skinny ties are very gay!
I still listen to their CDs...
Quietly - in my car, with the sunroof and all windows closed...
AND I SING!!!!
We got the BEAT!!!!
The weird thing about that video, is that it was made for the Andrew Dice Clay flick "Ford Fairlane." But when the Diceman was banned by MTV, they had to replace all the scenes showing the Diceman in it.
Was night flight the one with the ugly skinny blond bimbo?
OK, that's just CRAZY talk.
