After receiving numerous complaints that the 1970s sucked and were not worthy of a vanity thread, here at the Pissant/CPOWife Research Center we've decided to select a decade that had more worthwhile activities to ponder. Though many positive events developed during the 1980s, there were plenty of stink-bombs as well. To further our research, we encourage everyone to participate in this scientific survey.
Without further ado, the Best and Worst of the 1980s:

I'm not afraid to admit that I watched my share of MTV. And I liked glam rock, but I also liked punk, "new wave", classic rock, southern rock, etc., etc.

How do you know your faves aren't included in the etc., etc.? :-) By the way, what were your favorite bands at the time?

Billy Idol may have been a buffoon, but "Sweet Sixteen" is one of the all-time most sublime pop songs (even if there is the ooky lolita subtext).

Same as now: Stones, Van Morrison, Dire Straights,Dylan, Grateful Dead, ZZ Top.
The 1980s bands that I liked were early REM, Talking Heads, Husker Du, Missing Persons (quit laughing), Los Lobos, The Clash.

I was actually thinking "Document."

Matt Frewer. He was the original face and voice of Max Headroom, and also played the Trashcan Man in the made-for-TV version of
The Stand. He's a genuine character actor. He was also in
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and, sadly,
Ishtar.

That was my problem with the song. I wanted to like it, but I had a hard time with it because of what it suggested. And I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that Billy Idol had slept with more than one 16 year old over the years.

I like all of those bands, except Bob Dylan. His voice just grates on me. I am rather fond of his son's band though. :-)

Cool pics. First time I saw that video was a preview to another 80's classic movie: BACK TO THE FUTURE!
