THE BEST AND WORST OF THE 1980s (vanity)
Pissant/SSCPOW Research Center | 6/6/05 | SilentServiceCPOWife & Pissant

Posted on 06/06/2005 10:03:49 AM PDT by pissant

After receiving numerous complaints that the 1970s sucked and were not worthy of a vanity thread, here at the Pissant/CPOWife Research Center we've decided to select a decade that had more worthwhile activities to ponder. Though many positive events developed during the 1980s, there were plenty of stink-bombs as well. To further our research, we encourage everyone to participate in this scientific survey.

Without further ado, the Best and Worst of the 1980s:

All the guys in the volleyball scene from "Top Gun" (including Tom Cruise)

Best scene in a movie ever!

Please, please: tell us you're a woman.

Do you remember Jon Erik Hexum?

Calling Dr. Darwin...

DIED:

October 18, 1984 (according to his death certificate)

CAUSE OF DEATH:

Between scenes on the set of "Cover-Up", Jon-Erik was bored by delays in filming. Always the comedian, he jokingly placed a blank-loaded .44 Magnum prop gun to his right temple as a sight gag and pulled the trigger. The explosive charge drove a quarter-sized piece of his skull into his brain. Two days later, Jon-Erik was taken off life support at his family's request and his heart, corneas, skin, and kidneys were donated for transplant. This benefited six people, including a last-minute burn victim.

Did you ever see a movie with Sam Elliott called Lifeguard?

Grrrr.... He was an over the hill lifeguard - but he still had it... if you know what I mean.

I'm glad you didn't say Dance With Wolves. I was glad I had a magazine in my tote when I saw that one, cuz I had plenty of time to read while the camera scanned and scanned and panned and panned Costners face between the actual action scenes.

Robert Palmer was the ultimate in sexy man, IMO. Excellent dresser. Loved his long hair. And he was curteous at a time when pop stars were F'n and punk and in-your-face.
