The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We're all well. #1 son, Paul, has a job at a law firm in Boston this summer. He decided to move in with a couple of his friends who just got an apt. in Cambridge. That way he only has a 20 min. ride on the T, instead of an hour ride on the commuter train from here.
#2 son, David, working on his PhD in Austin, is doing some research with his major professor. They're preparing a paper, hoping it will be accepted for submission at a conference in December.
I just made plane reservations for Clare and me to fly to Japan this July. The family of one of her best friends (also homeschooled) is moving there for 2 years, so I'm taking Clare and another friend of theirs over for two weeks this summer. Emilee is in school, so she couldn't go during the school year.
Joseph had his last final today, so he's thrilled to be DONE for the summer, except for his summer reading of course, but we don't have that info yet, so he's FREE for now.

Heh...I got some shirts from Eddie Bauer last week. They gave me a big paper bag with handles. Halvah and Tam have dragged that thing alll over the apartment at this point...grab onto the handles.
It's a mobile home for cats!

I've been getting scratchy about 320 miles. Seventeen hundred is quite the deal. Either one of you a pilot?

Disturbing that it was a 666 post, no? How come only a couple of us seem to want to know why 2J is building a big box?
To: Petronski
I'm a pilot, or was.... that's what I went to school to do. :~D

I'm not kidding about the ears popping: the exit is at the highest point on Interstate 80 east of the rockies. I think I've been there!

320 miles is practically commutable.
Bear and Rose were far also, and they met online...
Bear moved to Texas, from I think Michigan :~D

Four feet by ten feet by what, six inches?
Sounds like she's hanging shooting targets.

If you spent half an hour wondering what happened to your ears, I bet you have.
