The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Afternoon ALL - well, Rosie, to find 'gunfriends' one should "Get Thee to the Nearest Range" :=)

Address of same is generally available at the bulletin board at the local gunshop. I would think your city would have one, there are several in the much larger city to the south.

Most ranges have introductory firearms or shooting classes, some specifically for women. The local one we went to today has them and better still for OT and LSA, Wednesday is "Ladies Day" at the range, no range fees for Lady Shooters.

With regard to our bi-state minishootmoot both OT and LSA did well, .22's were mostly used today though LSA rented a Ruger GP-100 .38. The Webley did see a bit of action. I do like that old revolver, apparently others do as well. :-)

We had a great tour of and were quite taken with OT's SUNROOM. Afterwards, OT grilled burgers with the fixings, LSA's potato salad was excellent, and for desert OT's home made apple pie with ice cream. Hmmmmmmm.

Methinks a nap is in order now as the animals have been fed and they have sought their respective resting places.

*Sigh* Rain at Daytona.

Looked at TheBulletHole with my higher res monitor....the classes are 3 hours long and $75. It still doesn't tell you when they are or have a link to sign up. And shooting must "seize" by 8:45. These people need a proofreader.

Evening OT - well, if it's raining in Daytona, might as well make a gas run. :-)

Prufreeder? you think sew? Maybe you just call them? Don't know. Still worth looking into I would think. Seems a bit pricey though.

Heh. Still haven't started yet. Might as well put on a pot of coffee.

Guess I'll surf around and see if there's something cheaper.

Always ice cream.

On movie 3 today. This one looks really bad, in a good way. Have successfully written 3500 words today. Writing is fun!

Race should start up in the next 10 or 15 minutes. Hope I'm awake at the end.

Neighbors are shooting off firecrackers.

Evening G'nad - so far only a few noisemakers 'round here. This town settles down nicely over holiday weekends. Expecting more noisemakers tomorrow and the next day.

Didn't get too warm today but heading back up tomorrow.

Did a bit of gardening, just about all the daylilies we transplanted are blooming; several spiders, harlequins, and drwarfs (did I say that? :-). Roseofsharon starting to bloom.

Can't believe the year is half over. Wow.
