The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I agree...I really enjoyed it. Dunno why so many people didn't. I liked that it was more realistic than the typical super hero type movie. Not that the other type isn't fun...but for Batman, the realism works.
I really hope they *do* make sequels in the same style and with as many of the same actors as possible.

Some people didn't like it? That surprises me... the geeks Rose works with liked it. I hadn't heard of anyone not liking it.

The kids want to see that one, too. We might wait until it comes to the theatre here that is like the Alamo Draughthouse. I was telling our #1 son and his roomates about the theatre, and they were excited to know there was a place you could get a burger and a beer while watching a movie!

Yup, we saw it at the Drafthouse... had chips & queso and a pizza, Rose had a salad. Dinner and a movie can't be beat, imho!

Really? Best yet? Cool...

Mark Steyn for one.OK, I went and found his review and read it... I usually like Steyn's articles, but his review is way off the mark, IMHO.

It's after 11:00 pm here, and it's still 93F outside.
I won't be wearing a coat until November, most likely.

Ack. Hot.
Hot at night is tough for us washingtonians to understand. Like when I travel to Phoenix... in summer... which I'm probably going to do here pretty soon. Midnight and still 90+? That's crazy talk.
:-)
To: Ramius
Heh... company I'm working at now is in the process of moving from Seattle to Austin. One of the guys from Seattle just arrived in Austin Tuesday. He was complaining of the heat this morning, at 9:30 am... we Austinites just looked at each other and shook our heads. It was still the "cool" of the morning! The *real* heat isn't until late afternoon (it went over 100F here today).

Morning G'nad: glad to hear the good news 'bout thegirl. Way to go.
LSA, OT, & yerstruly will be celebrating the 4th a couple days early. We're mini-shootmooting at thebullithole, an indoor range. Numerous and sundry weaponry available to rent as well. Hmmm. What to try next. Would that all choices were such as this.
Two weeks till MoJAM - thegirl and theboy been practicing?
