The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Have they figured out the trick of running around the outer edge until it turns into a huge spinning vortex? that is fun :D

Heh, I used to get thrown out of peoples' swimming pools for organizing their kids to do that. I was a Bad Influence on younger, more impressionable kids...

It looks like my nephew did not develop any fear of water after his drowning episode. Still loves to swim. Apparently my sister-in-law, bless her heart, insisted he wear a life vest at the pool. Guess what? Wear life vest = get no swimming skills = sink like a stone when you take it off.
The only 'negative' outcome seems to be his little sister taunting him.
"Your dead."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are. Your dead."

She's never gonna make it to old age... Her heart can't take it. She's gonna keel over one day during a great manic frenzy.

Here it is, this JUST happened...the Blackhawk from the ARNG, here it is heading back to the north after coming from the north. It is ultimately going to head back to the south, but it went over our house three times before it did.
So, it circled our house, heading back north...
Here it is over our neighbor's house that is to the north of us...
Here it is circling back to the south...
And here it is, flying right over me, heading toward the south, going on it's way to where ever it's going...
GOD BLESS THESE MEN and keep them safe!

I like that last one. That is a great shot.

You know, some people consider that sort of thing a religious experience... I heard that.
To: TalonDJ
They had the side open...I could see them! I couldn't tell what they were doing, but I could definitely see them.
You know story, don't you? About how we'd been waving at them since 9/11 and they started circling and how we wrote them the letter thanking them for there service and how they invited us to tour the unit and how I gave away many knives? (In a nutshell.)

Thanks for the pictures 2J!
I was waiting on them before going out to mow... :~D
Back later!
To: RosieCotton
I usually pray hard for them when they're flying over, but I got so involved with taking the pictures that I forgot! Pray for 'em!! I'm pretty sure I've got 'em covered, but it can't hurt for you to back me up! ;-)

Doesn't that last one look like the Lord is shining on them?
Find me a scripture that is appropriate and I'll print it up and mail it to them.

Oh, yeah... real bad influence. I'd hang out with little girls who liked to play "pretty princess" games and next thing you know, their mothers are complaining to my mother that I've got them up in trees as Indian scouts or whatever.
It only worked on small-family children. Those from big families all had their own older sister running things. When we'd get together with groups like them, the oldest daughter and I also had little turf wars.

Seriesly, your church doesn't do that, right? I had the impression that the barking/fainting stuff had been passe for the last decade or so.
