The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Another email today...
A fellow NCO in my platoon recently received a BK TacTool from you. I have been looking for one for quite some time. They come in handy for prying open closet and cabinet drawers while on house searches here in Baghdad, especially when the Halligan tool is too bulky for the same operations. I am wondering how I may request one of these knives and a BK Companion from you?
BTW, this is a helluva nice thing you are doing for the Troops.
The demand seems to have been increasing lately... let's make sure we're not leaving Winmag holding the bag. Please consider sending a contribution if you haven't done so recently.
To: SuziQ; Lil'freeper
I assure you, if I could afford them I'd get me some in a flash! Birks and Chucks are all I'd wear and intend it to be all I wear in the future. I just couldn't figure another way of telling you the stereotype I was dealing with! LOL
Some day I'm gonna get dresses that I like for church that aren't my mom's cast-offs. I'm gonna have my every day Birks and my dress Birks and Chuck Taylors in every color!
And rubber boots or rubber clogs for around the farm.
Oh my stars, the goat milk is GREAT! The whole family loves it! I didn't get the yogurt made, will do that in the morning.
Heh...I told Steve "I'd like a milk goat." Steve said "You think the neighbors would mind?"
I'm almost done with my cholesterol medicine.

Ah, make sure you get some sleep tonight. Or don't, and sleep at the bored meeting.
I actually have a position on Revelation... it's the nonpopular one ;-) but other than that I hold your philosophy. And other than to argue whether or not "Left Behind" is theologically accurate (doubt it), I don't find much value in those arguments. So sometimes I'll read that thread. Because I don't really have a dog in the fight.

I would like to send something soon. The good thing about being employed is being able to help out.

I haven't been in any religion flame wars. Yer' slippin'. :-) Yah know what they say 'bout backsliders... :-)
I know what you mean, WRT 'end times' and such. I think the two best bits of advice for such things are "No one will know the day or the hour" and, while not scriptural, is still pertinent: "Every generation has believed the end times were upon them".
I'm pretty much in the same camp WRT the Cre/Evo threads. I dunno. I don't care. I wasn't there. Someday I'll ask. :-)
To: JenB; All
Yep, I'm signing off cause I need to get up at 5:00 if I'm going to the gym tomorrow. At least this is the last meeting for about three weeks.
As far as "Left Behind" goes, all I'll say is if the theology is correct, I'm sure God will do a better job of writing the story line.

I wasn't there. Someday I'll ask. I figger the first 10-20,000 years He'll be explainin women to men and vice versa...

The demand seems to have been increasing lately... let's make sure we're not leaving Winmag holding the bag. Roger that. I suppose it might have been predictable that the spread of these knives would reach some critical mass where requests start coming in faster then we could fill them, or in a volume that we can't support. But I would submit that it is a credit to Mister Mag and you all that have supported the project that the greatest problem yet encountered is success. :-)
Mister Mag, please don't be bashful about letting us all know what the need is. I do try to help when I can, but, if demand is getting out of hand, perhaps a pow-wow could be arranged to make some decisions about priorites.
To: Corin Stormhands
I figger the first 10-20,000 years He'll be explainin women to men and vice versa... Hah! I think the explanation to men about women will only be something like "Yah... guys... I'm really sorry about that." :-)

Or maybe it is:
[MMMMMDLV]???

In the middle of moving to a new domain hosting service, and don't have everything moved yet...
I wonder if the Romans had a numeral for 5000? Or for anything over 1000, for that matter...
Ach! I'm sposed to be going to bed! Nite!
