So, did we already have a discussion on how to make gin out of sloe?
Did you put "precious stealing" on your resume?
I'm not sure. But I'm up for another round if you're buying.
Do I want to know what ointment that is?
Just think...no payroll tax or witholding...
Butt Balm.
That looks really gross.
I don't know...
Would it be fun for you to speculate about it? ;~D
Happy to share it ;~D
Pick your sloes from blackthorn hedges in October or November when they are most ripe - probably after the first frosts. Take a litre bottle of gin, and drink half a litre
Cut or prick the sloes and drop into the half-empty bottle so that they displace the remaining gin to near the top.
Add one wine goblet of sugar (approx 150g). All you have to do now is turn or agitate the bottle daily for a week, then weekly for a month or two ... by which time it will be ready to drink (but it is really best kept until the next winter).
Hello, my name is [redacted]. A couple of guys in my company have received knives from you all and I just wanted to let you know that it means a lot to me to know that people like you truly support us. It is really hard here sometimes, just yesterday I watched my friend get shot by a sniper right next to me. By the grace of God it looks like he will be fine, he has pulled through his first surgery looking good. People like you, doing what you all do, help us get through these hard times because it reminds us why we fight and what we are fighting for. I am a fire team leader in an infantry company with four guys under me, four true soldiers. If you have anything laying around that they could use, it would be really nice. Tools and weapons are something that we as infantryman can never have enough of. Thank you again for your support...
Very good post!
Though I wouldn't know a sloe if it ended up in my butt balm ;~D Is it a nut?
Wow.... that's incredible. Please email him my thanks and support. I'm sure there's a knife around here we can send.
$$$ coming winmag, waiting on payday.
I told him that we'd be praying for his friend's recovery and his safety. And that we appreciate their service more than we can express.
I didn't steal it! I just found it...it came to me!
I found a good recipe for rice in the microwave (since I'm not having any luck finding a rice steamer at the thrift stores). You just take a glass bowl, put in a cup of rice, and two cups of water and a more than normal amount of oil...I use canola. I use oil in my stovetop version too, but I use a bit more for the microwave. It seems to form a barrier at the top that keeps the rice and water together.
It works great! I just stick it in the microwave, twist the knob to 10 minutes (that's as high as my countertop microwave goes) and after those 10 minutes, I give it a quarter turn and set it for another 10 minutes and it's done! You don't cover it or anything.
It takes the same amount of time as the stovetop version, but I don't have to worry about it burning, which has always been my beef with the stovetop version.
When Steve gets his wonderful new job and you have your farm, you should get a steamer. Steamers make the best rice, you can do veggies too, and they're not that expensive. You'll really like that.
If I drink half a litre of gin, will I remember the rest of the recipe?
(where do you get sloes?)
Ugh... been shopping around for temporary health coverage options this morning, since my benefits at work have been cut. COBRA is ~way~ too expensive.
