The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Not yet. Just getting a flesh wound.

Hmmm. Aspen, huh? A nephew lived in Vail for a while. I can ask him what's available in that general area that time of year. I know our family would LOVE to see the Rockies, and August might be just right!

Next August (2005)? or
next August ('06)?
BTW my cousin/roommate says he'll plan a greatly fun moot next year involving camping, canoeing and a visit to Mackinac Island if'n he can come along for free :)

I basically went due north from his place, up through Jefferson city and Osage. I have the route highlighted on a map in the car but don't remember the road numbers off the top of my head. The route was from his place up to Cedar Rapids. On the way down I went a longer way over though STL.

I'm home. Exhausted. Sneak freepin'. Apparently a storm blew through here and the chicken coop was still functioning but very messed up! So after settling theNuggets into their new tote and getting them set up with water and feed, I fixed the coop!
All the chickens faired well...look none the worse for wear.
I'll post ShootMoot pictures in the morning, and also a more official post with due thanks!

Just back from Jr's concert. One of the (now) many reasons I couldn't do Shootmoot. They do a second performance tomorrow night, but it turns out I gotta work.
Jr. did good. He was the stage director for their trashcan band. Kicked off the whole show in a spotlight. ~snif~ They grow up so fast...
Michigan would be purty for a moot. So would Aspen. But August is bad fer the Stormhands family.

Evenin' everyone.
Just a quick "hi and bye" post before I hit the hay.
Suzi - my grandfather's name is Alfonso.
He's doing very poorly, so prayers are much appreciated.
I sure wish I had been at Entmoot instead of passing the weekend as I did. *sigh*
But I'm so eager to see you all again! Aspen sounds fun!
I'm up to visit anywhere that has mountains. :-D
Anyway, I'd better get to bed. I've got a lot of catch-up work to do tomorrow.

I forget everyone who watched The 4400 last year... just wanted to post that the second season is premiering tonight on USA Network. It started at 8:00 pm Central, and is 2 hours long tonight; this episode will be rebroadcast at 11:00 pm Central. It may be rebroadcast later in the week too, I'm not sure.
