The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, remember that I'm getting the story 2nd hand from my SIL, but this is what she told me...
Apparently, my ex-MIL (Rosa) was feeling pretty bad last night. It's no secret she's a big drinker and has been for years, so when she spent the whole night sick as a dog - she figured (as we all would) that she drank too much again.
Well, this morning she was feeling worse than ever and so she called 911. While she was waiting for them to show up, she called her daughter who stayed on the line with her until the ambulance got there.
The EMT told my SIL that they would evaluate her and decide whether or not she needed a hospital.
When my SIL called back 10 minutes later, there was no answer - so she called a few hospitals until she located her mom.
When she got to the hospital, the doctor informed her that her mom was being admitted immediately because her heart was failing. He told her about the heart rate and the last I heard, Rosa is awake and mad as hell that they've admitted her.
She still looks and feels terrible though, so she's scared to death she's going to die. She's a wonderful lady, evven though we've had our disagreements. I hope she recovers and gets home soon.

Dude...
I'm thinking cholesterol is better than diabetes if you gots to take your choice; easier to lay off the freedom fries than to poke yourself twice a day, etc.
Mini-dramas? Well, we tried to re-write The Brothers Karamazov as a campfire skit, but that didn't work out.
Check 2J's chicken stories :)

Thanks, you two.
It's just been so crazy lately.
I can't wait for things to settle down again. All of the different mini-dramas had me feeling so "blech" that I had made an appointment to see a doctor this Thursday even ~before~ I heard about Rosa.

Me too, chica.
She's pretty cool for an ex-MIL. Never held the break-up against me or my girls.

Eh, started the day off by oversleeping and getting to work late, and never really recovered.
Anyway... have to get something to eat before bed, I guess.

'Tis a movie. A feature, if you please. The CR saw the preview when he took his firends' kids to see Madagascar.
