The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good luck, Rosie!

It's actually a bit cool here! I am a little unhappy about that, because I didn't give thenuggets the heatlamp last night and cool weather makes them burn calories!

;-)

My office is always extreme temperature-wise. Last week it was the heat. Between the four of us and our 12 computers it gets mighty warm in the room - somewhere between 85-88 (which is close enough to 90 for government work).

Anyhoo, they managed to get the AC running over the weekend. Now I'm freezing. It's 65 in here. Brrr!

HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY!

It has gone by fast, hasn't it? I still have my lovely little rock that I took from your beach sitting on the shelf here at work. :-D

And a very HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of our daddies in the Hobbit Hole!

I'm off to find coffee...

65 sounds pretty nice right now... mmm...

I'm gonna bike to work. May bus home, depending on the heat. Sigh, it's Monday and I have to deal with DemonLady. Argh.

Don't yet hate it when the scale is set for Kg?

"Hmm hey! I am way down... wait a minute... where is the third digit... ah NUTS!"

I'm still kind of stunned that it's actually been a whole year.

It feels like a long time, but then again, it seems like yesterday.

Hehehe.... that's one advantage of a nice analog scale, with both.

The disadvantage is that it took me forever to discover that it can be adjusted, so I had been using a scale that added ten pounds (which I knew because the needle sat at ten). Depressing!

Your telling me... 95kg is not a depressing number of pounds higher than 195 lb. On the bright side the training is going well and has me all full of energy. I will just have to start eating better. No more big breakfasts. Since I have been easing into the training (lot of walking, not so much running) it probably does not burn all that many calories. I will make that up on my bike once I get it back. Went swimming on Saturday. Ow. Like I thought, need a lot of work there. I am not going to be trying for a good finish time. I just want to finish the triathlon. Which is 3 weeks from yesterday.

I really like biking. I really, really hate biking in 90+ degree weather. So I think today I may only get 3.5 miles in, but that's still good. I think.

I'm seeing a very slow but definite downward movement, so I guess I shouldn't get too depressed. I think I'm still on target for my size goals - one by the time I go home, one more by the end of the summer, and the maybe-final one by mid-semester...

90+ ? That is pretty warm. Just think, all that sweat is weight loss. Bring plenty of water. On the way BACK from work it does not matter how hot you get since you don't have to be presentable afterward.

Whew! It was definitely easier this time. Didn't have to walk up any hills.

Dunno about getting home... yesterday it was all I could do to go two and a half miles. We'll see. I just don't want to pass out.

On the bright side, if I don't lose 13 pounds in the next 3 weeks I get to be in the 'Clydesdale' weight class.

Bah!
