The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

But I'm sure he woke up wondering "What the heck?" Heh... so... last I remember I was up in a tree over in... and now I'm waking up with a raging splitting headache... in some sort of... forest... Like... place...
That's the last time I go into town with Booboo.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Nah, it's all tv-rips so far and all the same size. I'll keep looking but my previous source, for TAR, seems to have shut down... I'm using a place-with-the-popups-from-hell.

You know, I know why I avoid the news side now.
If I see one more story about a child hurt/killed/otherwise tortured, I think i'll have a nervous breakdown.

Love your bear story. That is so cool! Glad you didn't have any trouble with them, it's great to be able to see them, as long as the only downside is the adrenaline rush.
To: RMDupree
Well, mud puddles can be quite intimidating. Most horses are very skittish about anything that feels like unsafe footing. One good way to train a horse is to spread out a large garbage bag on the ground, weighted with a rock in each corner. Then try to get the horse to step on, and eventually stand on it.
The garbage bag looks and feels alien to a horse, so once it's trained, it's less likely to spook on the trail. The same goes for gunfire.

Good news (and good knives) travel fast. Starting with Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, xxx Infantry, we now have the battalion's Command Sergeant Major on our list. CSM Gary E. asked for some special engraving on the blade, and I just got it back today. I sent him this photo, so he could get a peek how it looks.

Here's the email I got back:
---------------------
Rick,
The knife is outstanding you really do super nice work me and all the Bandits want to say thanks for all that you and the Hobbit Hole do to support us here in Iraq.
WHOOOOA
V/R,
CSM E.

Good morning, everyone! Well, I'm off on my ride. I've no idea if I'll make it back for even part of the chat-view, but I will try!
Hope everyone has a great Saturday...have fun tonight if I don't make it back in time!
To: Penny1
Good morning! Have fun!
I'm up and will be setting off on a much smaller ride of my own in a few minutes here. Hope we see ya tonight!

Morning!
My trip today will be to the grocery store.
Need to cut the grass.
Need coffee and breakfast.

Morning 300 WM etal, very fine job indeed on the knife, looks great.
Rosie : cue biking music.
OT: off for gypsygirl's constitutional; gardening and fence repair will likely round out the agenda.

Back! Rode for a solid forty-five minutes, which isn't bad for a first ride o' the year. Found one of the nifty bike trails in town and rode quite a distance...have no idea of milage, but quite a bit, I think. Went through a vey pretty park (we should ride there sometime with grilling supplies and edibles...) Saw a lot of birds, and as I was coming back, other people out enjoying the morning. There was a couple with two Irish Setters - gorgeous dogs.
Now I'm hot, hungry, and intensely aware that I've had no caffeine as of yet this morning. Must remedy...
