The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

As I was walking up to it, I thought it might be a dope pipe! I was a little leary! Can you imagine me reaching down and picking up a dope pipe? Just as soon as I did, the cops would get me.
But then I saw it was a tool and I had to get it. Steve and I never pass up a tool on the road.

Good grief!
I wouldn't know a dope pipe from a spanner, personally, but...

Yup, TDJ got it right, sparkplug wrench, chainsaw tensioner (two bolts that hold the bar that the chain spins in, and the screwdriver part for adjusting the tension screw on in the inside of the housing. Good tool, comes in handy when you got a chainsaw.
2JM - in the best tradition of the HHTFS hobbit hole tool finding society. LSA spotted a hammer in the street while walking gypsygirl. 16 oz Workforce (tm) dropforged hammer with wooden handle, darn near new.

This is your thread.
This is your thread on drugs.

Well, you always see these seedy-looking fellas on COPS getting talked to by the cops...cops pull a dope pipe out of the guy's pocket and the guy's like "What's that? That's not MY dope pipe! I don't know where that came from!"
That's what I was thinking walking up to it...
"No officer, that's not MY dope pipe! I just found it in the street!"

It was that dope pipe that 2J found in the road!
To: osagebowman; TalonDJ
I drove down through the neighborhood, looking for obvious chainsaw work...unfortunately couldn't find any. It was a long shot anyway...

Ugh...I wanna go try out my bike some, but it's really, really gusty out there. Wind + road = scary.
I'm so nervous about traffic it isn't funny. This'll be a good way to confront some phobias...

There aren't many cars here, and the roads almost all have nice wide bike lanes. I rode very quiet back roads for three of the miles today, with the last half-mile in an area where everyone knows you get bikes. I wasn't totally comfortable, but....
Hey, I've got a helmet, I'm invulnerable, no? ;-D

It looks like there are a couple of nice lonnnnnng trails (like miles and miles and miles) that are off road. Granted, you have to ride on the road to get to 'em, but they're nicer, quiet roads.
It's supposed to be calm tomorrow. I'm thinking...get up early, go explore while there's not much traffic.

There aren't many cars here, and the roads almost all have nice wide bike lanes.But...the bigger roads have HEAVY traffic, and bitty, skinny bike lanes. And right now...I don't know the smaller roads.
I'm studying the map, though.
