The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nope...just bitten by frost.

And the flagpole-licking scene from A Christmas Story could have been filmed at my school...every other week or so.

Hmmm. possum on the half shell :-) 'Dillers are remarkable creatures. Their chief defense is leaping a foot or so into the air when they are startled. Guess it works okay in nature, but when crossing a road, it brings them up to the height of a automobile bumper. Sigh. Lose a lot of 'em that way.

They are or were used in Hanson's Disease, being about the only critter besides humans that can contract the disease. Also a good reason not to mess with sick or injured ones, one never knows for sure.

hmmm. think .22 cal pellet rifle or pistol. I think my pistol could be pumped up like 8 or 10 times and shot a .22 pellet with amazing accuracy and force. Even moreso for a rifle version of same. OT 1 Thievin Varmits 0. :-)

Evenin'

"Evita" was a good show. Now I want to read her biography because I had my history wrong. I thought Juan died and she took over. I was wrong.

Primaries are over. My guys won handily. Now to the general.

Still fighting it out over on a political thread. Ignoring the religion threads right now.

We're looking for a tsunami here on the west coast, but it looks like it's gonna peter out.

Cool. Glad your guys won.

For some reason we watched "Highlander". I am soooo glad I was in preschool during the 80s.
