The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I left for the vet just after that last post. Wife called and they said bring him in. I ~just~ got back.
Definitely has arthritis. But she didn't rule out a disc issue yet. Examined him thoroughly, but didn't do x-rays (I was seein' dollar signs and said we'd try the anti-inflammatory first).
So, we got Rimadyl, a pain med and a joint supplement.
And a bill for $233.00
~sigh~

Hey,OB! That storm was more vicious than I thought. Though there was no damage in OT's neck of the woods, we made the news--a portion of our new hospital construction was damaged, a hanger "failed" at the airport and damaged the nine airplanes inside, and a lightning strike did $60,000 damage on a house here.
"Old Tyme Days" is in full swing right now, sun is shining, and people are flocking to buy anything with a price tag on it!!
Hope you all are having a wonderful time!

WooHoo! TalonDJ made it! (and got past the defenses!)
Y'all look like you're enjoying yourselves immensely, dagnabit!!
Fixing to head to NY to pick up some stuff SSQ bought on ebay. It's too bulky and heavy and the shipping would have been exorbitant!
Just got back from spending the morning in the sunshine at the Girl Scout carwash! It was fun, and the girls were quite successful. Gots a little sun on my face and lower arms, but not too bad.
Have a great rest of the weekend!

Have been spendng the morning cleaning house. I won't make it to homeschool conference, but they are supposed to be tape-recording all the workshops, and the one I wanted to see so much is one I have earmarked for purchase is this afternoon. Parents are driving in from the Hill Country for the annual family reunion, which is tomorrow. They are closing on their new home this Wednesday, and NEXT weekend hubby and I get to go help them move. I am rather excited, because I have only seen the plan they picked out and have no idea what it looks like in reality.
Anyone go see Cinderella Man?
My copy of 13th Warrior arrived a few days ago, so my mind has been filled with Tall-Blonde-&-WOW Vikings. Who is this Banderas guy?! (just kidding)

So, we got Rimadyl, a pain med and a joint supplement. And a bill for $233.00 Sounds like a typical vet visit for me, 'cept my vet is so cute I smile while he does it!

Taking a break from shootin' Hmmmm.....targets at Hobbit height... I am ~really~ glad I didn't send you Flat Frodo. :~D
To: Corin Stormhands
Corin: Why?
Shooting has finished. Pictures soon? Probably.
All was fun. Rifles were very superfun. The hobbits are all dead.

Well, we have a car! Nothing special, a 2000 Chevy Malibu, but the price was right! And, I must say... we went to CarMax, and the experience was completely pleasant! Highly recommended, if you don't like dealing with slippery salesmen...
Off to dinner, we haven't eaten all day... later!

Well we did have a great day of shooting! I shot a bunch of different rifles and a muzzleloader. One weapon reminded me of "Red Dawn".
I blew one of the little target men off it's stand!
Lotsa pictures, after supper.
