The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Nobody else seems to have a taste for the game, sadly. Ah, well...Maybe I should re-post the invitation.

Drove through some pretty country in Kansas on the way to 2J's last year. Don't know much about what's available for vacation rentals though.

Tolkien Trivia Tag
The rules of the game are as follows:
1. Somebody asks a LotR trivia question. 2. You provide the answer, and ask another question. 3. Repeat step 2 above with other peoples' questions. You are not allowed to answer without posting another question!
And yes, it's like a Ponzi scheme of trivia. So sue me.
Here's another question for y'all:
Aragorn, when he took the throne of Gondor, added the name "Strider" to the family heritage...but in another language. What was the Elvish word he used in place of "Strider"?

Absolutely, Bear et al. There are Moots and then there are moots. We're available to moot on relatively short notice.

Storm didn't bother Miss Cat except for my closing all the SGD's. But then we didn't get any lightening strikes that were real close.

I should have included the caption to the above picture of Paradise Inn:
Paradise Inn, Mount Rainier, Washington. During the winter of 1916-1917, 789.5 inches of snow fell at Paradise Inn. When this photo was taken, in March 1917, the snow was 27 feet deep.
I've been there when the snow was a mere 20 or so feet deep. Pretty flippin' cool. :-)
