The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Clare was at a homeschool camp last week. It is populated by a lot of 'crunchies'; vegans, vegetarians, etc. One of her friends was wearing a t-shirt that had "PETA" in small letters on the front. A lot of the kids came up to him and said "Oh, cool shirt!" He just laughed, because on the back of the shirt, it read, "People Eating Tasty Animals". ;o)

hehehehe...
Fortunately, duct tape wasn't necessary tonight.
I just needed to lay down with Alyson for a bit and rub her head. She's out.
Becky's still up, but only because she's watching Annie and it's almost over.

I didn't fight my way to the top of the food chain just to eat tofu.ROTFL!! An acquaintance had a going away party for my friend, Gina, whose family is moving to Japan. Nancy's family, and Gina's family are all vegans. I told them I'd bring an Enchilada casserole made with beef and beans. Gina's daughter suggested helpfully that I could make it with tofu. I told her that her Mom and Nancy would be providing all the vegan food they needed, that I was gonna make something I wanted to eat! Gina just laughed! So I brought it, and I"m glad I did, because it WAS the only thing that had meat in it except for some pepperoni pizzas they'd bought for the kids.

Oh, I know it.
Becky is hypnotized by it, so I'm sure she'll be singing those tunes for days.

Well... You should probably count yourself as grateful that she really likes something as good and innocent as Annie. It could be far, far worse...
It's a good sign. :-)
Maybe she'd like Oklahoma! :-)
To: Ramius
But what are the rest of the words? I can't get past those lines.
To: HairOfTheDog
Saaandy, Sandy's his name if you please If you don't believe me, ask any one of the fleas...
I've seen that movie way too many times.

I'd rather have a kid hooked on cheesy showtunes than some of the other FRAP that passes for music and movies these days.

No one cares for you a smidge
When you're in an orphanage!
*sigh*
Gonna have these stuck in my head. I should put on "The Music Man" again justa chase out "Annie".

Becky's still up, but only because she's watching Annie and it's almost over. Not listening! Not listening!

Evenin' all. I'm plum wore out.
Bored meeting all day. Finished after three. Then hadda haul frap back to the office.
Came home and went an painted the baby pool. We've had it closed 'cause we found a structural crack when we filled up the pool. We got it band-aided for the summer. I only painted the lip and the walls 'cause we couldn't get it completely drained. I told 'em they're just gonna pee in it anyway...
Then I came home and mowed the yard. Sat down here about an hour ago and am just catchin' up. Not gonna last long.
Got a meeting in Roanoke tomorrow night. That's a three hour drive. (A three hour drive). Not going alone and I may not be driving, but it'll be after midnight afore we're home.
