It has led too almost all the major problems that men have encountered in history once they had solved the problem of what was for dinner

Interesting when approached on the macro level. I seem to remember a quote from one of the former industrial titans (perhaps Vanderbilt but I read it so long ago...) that said he was dismayed at his success in that his children would be weakened by not having to struggle for the things he was able to provide them.

Could it be that society can only take so much success before it implodes?
