Only a nation that has defeated such problems as plagues, famine, and pestilence would have the time or patience to regulate smoking or require seatbelts to be worn at all times.

You're right of course but I think the barbarian hordes angle is in the process of being handled by the Islamo-fascists. As for the plague, the Islamists are almost certainly working on that as well. Maybe Islam is doing us all a favor. Their like a one stop shop for idiocy extermination. They even do us the favor of eliminating their own excessively stupid adherents via strap on bombs. Gee, maybe we should be encouraging them instead of fighting them. /s
