This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Isn't it time for you to go to that wedding?
i wonder why he went out of business? I know some go out of business because of the insurance.
Oh boy, wisdom teeth problems are the worst. Did they at least give you something for pain?
It's a long story but someone died in his care. He was doing an endometrial ablation and there is a machine they use to monitor the amount of fluid that goes in (I'm paraphrasing, I dont' understand all this doctor stuff). Well, the machine malfunctioned and too much fluid was infused, unbeknownest to him. He sent her home and she died. My doctor wanted to alert all the guys doing ablations that this could happen but his lawyers wouldn't let him, it would be admitting fault. He still lost the lawsuit that the family filed and it was in the millions. He had to close his practice.
A few hours? hmmmmm Don't you have any medical horror stories that you can tell?
Wow, that is horrible. that's too bad that he lost his practice because of that. I wouldn't know what I would do if i was the family.
I'd probably sue, too, but they should have sued the manufacturer of the malfunctioning machine, probably would have gotten even more money. But you know how people are, doctor=deep pockets and this doctor probably did have plenty. He was the only private practice doctor left in Fort Worth. He had a beautiful stand alone building, he was the only doctor in there. It was always quiet, only a coule of people waiting at a time. When my endo recommended another ob/gyn for me to try, I went to the office and pretty much walked back out, it was standing room only. I go to a lady now and although she's in a big practice, they keep the waiting crowd to a minimum.
Nope they didn't give me a thing.
Those people just don't seem to care, do they? They'd sure as heck care if it was themselves or a family member.
I found this on a law firm website. This is my doctor.
$3.6 Million Settlement for Family of 31-Year-Old Woman Who Died From
Postoperative Hyponatremia
Cause No. 141-171423-97, Linda Alvarado, et al., v. Hugh T. Lefler, Jr., M.D. et al.
141st Judicial District Court, Tarrant County, Texas
October 2002
A $ 3,628,658 structured settlement was achieved by LFDK attorneys Darrell and Courtney Keith for the surviving family members of a 31-year-old Hispanic woman who died from the effects of hyponatremia following an endometrial ablation operation performed by her gynecologist at an ambulatory surgery center. In this case, the plaintiffs alleged that the defendant gynecologist, anesthesiologist and surgery center nursing staff were negligent in failing to properly monitor the infusion of irrigation solution into the patient's uterus during the ablation procedure to avoid fluid overload from absorption of the fluids and resulting hyponatremia, and that the defendants failed to properly treat the patient postoperatively to correct her hyponatremia condition before releasing her to return home. After returning home, the patient experienced severe brain damage from the effects of her hyponatremia and she was taken by ambulance to a hospital where she later died. The structured settlement had a present value of $2,400,000.
Oh that's so terrible! Not that I'm blaming your doctor or anything.
It was partially his fault, I'm sure. When they called him afterwards he might not have taken them seriously, that the woman was having problems.
My sister and I both went to him for many years, he listened to our problems, gave us what we needed, delivered all our children. It was just a tragic accident.
I know Larry used to be Speaker of Ohio House. But, do ya know anything else about them? Would the daughter be 'safe' going on racing road trips?(unchaperoned?)
LOL....Mom's worry 'bout that stuff.
Dang, I would do that!!!
A pad to sit on? Are you kidding?
It sounds like you need a LazyBoy Recliner-saddle......... : )
Now this is a real saddle.
Looks more like an ironing board cover..........
