*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I better get back to the "affordable" barn in a box threads. I think I'm way out classed:')

That sounds like a good design. I like the idea of storing the hay seperately - it is such a fire hazard.

No, most horses wouldn't try to go over that. I like the design, it's made so you can flip up the piece to entirely close off the top - that's good for horses that nip or stallions, or sick horses.

I don't think we will need to but the way we are building we can add on if we want. A lot of compromising went on but we both got what was most important. I guess you can figure out what I really wanted:')

Yeah ,I figure I'll let her decide who gets to be the father of her child.

Yeah , the one's where I'm at now kept closed. I like them being able to stick their head out and look around. Mine would have to be square though. We couldn't make those curves.

You will be amazed at how nice it will be to be able to add on - there seems to always be need for one more thing (wash rack, etc.) Oh - and put the feed room and tack room on concrete too.

Mine have the top of the door open. I have welded pipe grills that match the rest of the top half of the walls that can drop in to the pipe sides of the doors however, and I use those on the stud's stall and on Prez's stall. Since we seem to switch horses alot, I can move them. Well, Sonny pretty much stays where he is at but the others rotate out when mares are foaling.

I'm hoping we can be moved by march or april so I can breed Sarah Lee as planned. I really think I will have to pasture breed her. She never shows any signs of being in heat.
