Just wondering on how it is compared. Are you comparing average attendance? Or are you comparing season total attendance?

How many games do MLS teams play in a season? How many do the NBA?

How many cities have MLS teams? How many have NBA teams?

I'd hazard to guess that when you look at total number of people that attend games in a year, the NBA is WAY on top.

How are you measuring that? Last I read, the MLS had to PAY ESPN to cover their games. ESPN actually pays to show the world poker tour.

In any event, television numbers are the true measure of popularity of a sport. Due to the shortness of the season, some sports outdraw the NFL at the gate, but no sport in the US gets better ratings.

Thanks for the ping! By the time Beckham is ready to come here, though, he'll be something less than he is now. Players like Pele and Beckenbauer, great as they were, came here on much the same terms.
