It was their goal to kill rock and roll.
Their self-destructing US tour DID make labels reconsider pushing bands that wouldn't last long enough to recoup production costs. Any fascination the majors had with "punk" ended at Winterland.

did someone say Custom van? My dear friend just bought one for us girls to do a roadtrip (we're 50!). complete with wood grain interior, sofa that automatically slides down into a bed, refrigerator, color TV, excellent sound system, wood cup holders and ashtrays at every seat.
Gonna get out the love beads and floppy hats, load up the van, and hit the beach this summer.
