OK. that's good enough to give me an angle on posting this true story:

My sister and her friends were maniacal Donny Osmond fans. One of her friends had at one time lived near Los Angeles and knew the area code. So, basing their actions on the assumption that all famous people live in L.A., they commenced to calling random numbers in the Los Angeles area and asking whoever answered the phone if they knew Donny.

They did this all day. They must have called hundreds of numbers.

The phone bill came a few weeks later. My dad almost exploded into a thousand pieces.
