O.K. I've recovered slightly from the marathon of 3 viewings of the new, and, BTW, great new movie Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I saw something during the previews that concerns me. It was subtle, but it was up there long enough for me to see it.
The movie is the upcoming Steve Martin movie The Pink Panther. The trailer is viewable by clicking here. It looks very funny. In one scene, (and I'm not sure the trailer listed above is the same one I saw in the theater, I'm at work and can't get it through the firewall), Steve Martin's character was trailing a suspect as was his partner. The suspect turned around and they both put their papers up in front of them. Steve Martin falls down a flight of stairs as he's walking to the entrance of the Subway. All-in-all, funny stuff. But, there's a dark side to it. There is a bunch of grafitti on the wall, and one of them says "Bush Sucks". It's brief, but there's this little thing about subliminal advertising that I worry about.

Would you want the sort of people who engage in graffiti on our side?
Right. By age three my kid knew not to write on walls.
Everything I've read about this movie says that Martin is no Sellers. All the slapstick with none of the subtlety, indeed most of the comedy is of the physical variety and most of that is very forced. It's doubtful that many people will bother with it, especially when they can rent the far more sublime original and watch it at home again and again.
