First Experience on FR...

Posted on 05/17/2005 1:31:52 PM PDT by Reaganrules4ever

Hi, I am a long time reader of FR, and so yesterday I joined and made my first post because I wanted to get some links to hear streaming of Michael Savage’s show. I had an interesting first experience that should be reflected on.

First, I just wanted to say thanks to people who posted links …On the other hand…I’m rather saddened by the fear and loathing that some of the other puerile posts showed toward Savage. While I don’t agree with everything he says, I appreciate that he doesn’t march in lock step with any political party. It’s not just the same “Bush says this” or politics blah blah blah that gets old so fast. As Savage always has said which is just common sense, if someone is standing up for your values, it doesn’t matter if he has an R or a D behind his name, or even if he is an eccentric radio host with narcissistic tendencies named Savage…at least the person is on your side! Savage is one of the few people who I have ever heard consistently, courageously, passionately and unapologetically address the most pressing issue of MY generation, the total transformation of our culture and country from within… Thanks Mike!! As a life time resident of the L.A. area and now an undergrad at UCSB I am constantly inundated by insane liberalism and Savage is the only thing that keeps me sane (well, beside runs on the beach and weekends in Isla Vista, but that’s a whole other story)

Also, I respect his prowess in other fields besides politics. As Weiner, Savage wrote many high-quality books about nutrition. They are hard to get a hold of, but luckily through loans with other UC campuses I have read some of them. I would recommend them to anyone interested in healthy living.

Mike is truly a creative, cultured and brilliant man, and it shows on his radio show, as he touches on sooo many topics, like literature, health, history, etc. Too bad if you can’t or don’t see that. That’s all I wanted to say! Any other links to Savage’s show running anytime BESIDES 6-9 pm PST (which is 9-12 EST) would still be appreciated. Thanks! it's cool to finally be a part of FR...I hope it doesn't get too crazy :)

Michael Savage is NOT Pro Second Amendment. As far as I'm concerned, this qualifies him to be an enemy of the state along with all the others who believe in watering down the Constitution through the judiciary, rather than through following the Constitutional process.

He's also proven to me that he's quite unable to express himself without stooping to vulgarity. I don't listen to him anymore because he grates my nerves.

As for you...welcome to FR! :-)

"The people who condemn Savage are the ones in denial about our open borders and a federal budget that is out of control!"

WRONG! i hate the open borders and the spending by our gov.

him being a worthless loudmouth prick has nothing to do with either one of those issues.

I like Savage more and more, especially since the election.

Before the election, all the talk programs rallying against Kerry. However, after the election, is when Ithe differences become more apparent.

It quickly became obvious that Rush & Sean do not waver far from the Republican line. So immigration issues are generally sidestepped and complaints about the lack of immigration reform are not directed at the administration. Terri Schiavo was defended up until the point which the Bushes decided it would cross the political line. Illario Pantano's case was ignored. When a caller to Rush questioned the appropriateness of Laura Bush's "George wanked a horse" joke, Rush turned it around on her, claiming she was too sensitive. Rush would have certainly considered it an inappropriate joke if it was a Democrat. There is little said about the administration's tendency to spend-spend-spend.

Savage, on the other hand, tends to just call it like he sees it. Sure he has his faults, but he is a conservative talk show host, not a republican talk show host.

The Republicans with their majorities have done little to promote a conservative agenda. The have recoiled in fear of a minority Democratic opposition. They're a horrible majority party. I thought with Republican congress and presidency, we'd see some government overhauls, but they have done next to nothing. I suspect conservatives will stay home in 2006 and 2008 if they don't get their act together

I enjoyed him when I first heard him.... for about 7 nights. Then I began to notice how much he insulted his audience as much as he insulted the sellout liberals. He'd say how he was the only one talking about whatever-item-of-the-day when I'd already heard it on talk shows all day. His ego just grows and grows like Hillary's butt. Finally I just turned it off. I know all such hosts are blowhards, but he's just too "whiney".

I listen to him on my afternoon drive home. He is a little bit paranoid and a bit of an articulate Chicken Little. I find him a little too much like Bill O Reilly (Only I can solve the worlds problems).

But he is entertaining and does make a good point now and then.

Welcome to Free Republic. We can be a little rough on Newbies.

RR4E, I wouldn't get too riled up about your newbie experience.....

FR is a great place to laugh, to learn, to read, to post. I would take a lot of posts with a shovel full of salt...Lot's of people post with their tongues firmly placed in their buccal cavities.

Gaucho, eh? Well it's better than a banana slug.

FRegards....and welcome to FR.

"The people who condemn Savage are the ones in denial about our open borders and a federal budget that is out of control!"

WTF?

Have you met anyone in FreeRepublic with the exceptions of trolls who are in denial regarding these issues?

Can you point me to some anti-savage posts here on FreeRepublic which dispute his objection to the illegal immigration and overspending?

When I listen to Savage, I get the impression that if you do not scream like a maniac into the microphone regarding these issues like he does, than you are not taking the issue as serious as he is. What a crock of crap.

You just wrote the "key" word. "...optimistic...". That's what Savage lacks...OPTIMISM. I can't listen to somebody who lacks optimism.

This is your second post and both vanities.

And it hasn't responded to either one of them. This has troll written all over it.

Welcome to Free Republic.
Hang in there and don't be discouraged too quickly.
I have listened to Savage, but he's just too intense for me. I agree with most of his positions, but he is fatiguing for me to listen to.

I also used to listen to Rush, but his emphasis on cigars, sports and celebrities turned me off. Again, I agree with his political and moral positions, I just tired of his style. I stopped tuning him in about 5 years ago, just about the time I started visiting FR.

Why do you need to defend Mike Savage? or insist that others like him as much as you do? It doesn't matter. Here the fun is in the give and take between differing opinions, and the never ending battle between the combination of ignorance and opinionated personalities vs experience knowlege and reason.
You can decide for yourself who already here is which. Don't be swayed by others and give it time.

Good luck.

I'm no fan of Savage but that doesn't make him wrong. It just means I don't care for him.

As for newby posting. If you survive the first few days you'll be fine.

It is that my way or the highway attitude I dislike, though Rush , Hannity, Laura....

they all have that Attitude.

Savage is the King of attitude. I think he could grow up a little and cut out the petty name calling

what an idiot.

Seems to be just ads for the Michael savage Show. I'm jealous because while some of my vanities have survived, a decent percentage went unceremoniously to "blogs."

"As you'll see in subsequent comments here Savage, scares a lot of people who would rather not venture out psychologically nude. Like liberals, many conservatives prefer to stay in their own comfort zone."

Mike Savage is the anti-Limbaugh

He is pessimistic, depressing, and fully contradictory.

What kind of Conservative is FOR the minimum wage and against the Free Market? Is that Conservative because you and Mike Savage say it is Conservative?

No, I think Mike Savage is more like Howard Dean who tries to redefine Patriotism. Savage sounds more and more like a Marxist everyday.

Fear and loathing? Not even close.

I just don't like listening to angry rants. If I wanted that, I'd listen to Air America.
