"Consistent excellence"? Gimme a break. There's been nothing "excellent" released by a major record label in the rock genre since Badmotorfinger.
i think some people tend to forget that larry, bono and edge are all christians,
hard to believe i know but ive seen the biography of these guys and while bono maybe socialist seeming,he has good intentions just goes about it wrong
What is U2 and Bono? A gay group?
They may be fine christians, and bono may have a fine voice. But I HATE their music!
LOL. You're the best.
I refuse to listen to any guy who gives himself a single name: Sting, Bono, Elvis....uh wait, I like Elvis..
Los Lobos had a couple of great albums, IMO
That would haunt me too.
Yeah, but they sucked live when I saw them. They and Chris Whitley were probably my biggest concert disappointments.
I've seen them twice at small venues. I thought they were very good. Especially when the grabbed the oversized acoustic guitars and did their mexican tunes!
Hardly a gay group. Though your definition of gay may differ from others.
If you are really interested, check out The Unforgettable Fire (1984) or The Joshua Tree (1987). I think anything else they have done is decent, but I consider these two albums their finest work.
I liked them in my toot, a bit. But I've grown impatient with all rockers who take themselves seriously.
I don't think I've ever heard that phrase before. What is your toot? : )
I know what you mean about rockers that take themselves too seriously. Still, I like their music and I think (from the little I know about DATA) what Bono is trying to do has some merit.
meant yoot (=youth) my bad.
There's enough moronic, pontificating, no-nothings in the world. Overpaid celebrities add nothing to the mix.
Agreed. Although I have to hand it to Bono, he actually does his research and understands his material a lot better than most of the self-important Hollywood types that assume that just because the overblown California hype machine has inundated the rest of the world with their faces that we can't help but notice them, they must have something important to say. Which they don't. At least Bono attempts to know what he's talking about.
And, IMHO, after a few albums off track, I actually find their two recent albums refreshing, compared to the alterna-trash that's cluttering up today's airwaves.
I'm sure the father of the Ethopian boy that Bono says he left behind would agree with you.
Again, from my limited knowledge of DATA, I do not see anything moronic about their efforts. I'll read up on them to get a better understanding.
