"It is just one of those re-occuring things. I hope this doesn't come true in our country. Maybe the film will awaken people to the situation of how dangerous it is . . . The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we are doing now in Iraq are unbelievable." --George "Michael Moore" Lucas
sorry folks...we know this one hurts, but this idiot does not deserve our money. We are at war and to fan the flames of anti-Americanism around the globe is irresponsible and dangerous. George Lucas will never see a dime of my money again.
For further political debate...
Warning major spoilers:
Check out the history of the jedi and the sith on this website: http://www.jedipurge.com/
"Chancellor Palpatine declared himself Emperor and reorganized the Senate under his rule, renaming it the Imperial Senate. He legitimized his rule with the aid of the highest court in the Galaxy, the Supreme Tribunal, located on the planet Granicus. The head of the Tribunal was the Consul, Cos Dashit of Alderaan. Dashit decided to cast his vote in favor of making Chancellor Palpatine the Emperor. Other members of the Supreme Tribunal who supported Cos Dashit included Son Hhat of Granicus, Mara Horus of Townowi, Crispin Hoedaak of Aquilae and the obese Vantos Coll."
Does this sound familiar?
we are primarily upset by Lucas's words at Cannes...
No threat, eh?
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."

We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."

Yeah, I gotta get my Yoda costume. I'm sorry, I mean...Yoda costume, I must purchase.
Then we should boycott everything in relation to Lucasfilm and Lucasart. And we shouldn't even have them in our homes. A true boycott.
Bravo Sir!
I got my ticket last month and I'm gonna see III Thursday evening.
28 yrs is a long time to wait and not see for something that Lucas said this week.
This whole bruhaha will quickly pass away...Nothing here, move along.
Obviously their politics have found their way into his work. Thats good enough for me.
disagree with ya...but thanks for serving!
Looks like they were wrong then, huh? Still no weapons of mass destruction found. Where is/was this great threat that had America slleples in fear at night?
Just because you get a lot of fools to agree to something. It does not make it right.
At the end of the day. You do not go to war because yopu want to. You go to war because there is no other alternative.
Someone's view of the world is always going to inform their work in some way. The original SW movies were critical about Vietnam.
all had the same intelligence...in a post-9/11 world, do we wait to be attacked again?
what would reaction have been if we rounded up 19 Muslim males on 9/10, and arrested them on claims of a conspiracy to hi-jack planes to attack major cities with?
what proof would have been enough?
Where are the wmds that the UN listed Saddam as having at one time? Proof of their destruction? Wouldn't you say Saddam and his intentions were threat enough? I would...
Of course, we have yet to hear from critics what their strategy would have been...
When I was 11 yrs old and saw the original Star Wars, I didn't give a freakin hoot about politics. All I was interested was being a 11 yr old boy enjoying Science Fiction seeing heros and villians going at each other. Good v evil. Learning that good is better and will always win.
For Pete's sake, just enjoy Star Wars III as it is, a Science fiction movie!
You could always pay the theater for one movie and walk into George's thinly veiled rant instead...
You don't have to boycott those who disagree with you at the ballot box but it is foolish to fork over your money to be insulted from the stage at a concert or preached to at a movie theater.
There is a time and a place for their politics. If they want to infuse every bit of their entertainment with it then the audience deserves to know this up front and respond accordingly.
Bush equals Hitler is not political debate.
