I've never heard of Seal. Has he been in the business long? I've quit keeping up with singers since Billy Eckstine quit making records.

For that matter I've never heard of Mrs. Seal either.

Yeah, that's a fine picture, but this is what I had in mind:

You know, I had not known/heard much of Seal either, until I met a friend at church last year. Seal is all he ever listens to, so I quickly became familiar with his music. I am not a follower of pop culture, but I do find Seal's music to be uplifting. You have probably heard his tune 'Kiss From a Rose' (if no place else, you'd heard it playing in public places). He has a nice voice. My friend bought us tickets when Seal came to town last year and I'd never seen a more diverse mix of concert attendees. Every age group was represented from teens to post-mid lifers. Never seen anything like it.

Here is a LINK TO A MIDI FILE OF "KISS FROM A ROSE" from Seal, you may recognize the tune.

Thanks, I'll have to keep a lookout for Seal. When you reach a certain age like me, you tend to lump all the newer guys together-the good and the bad alike.

I believe I do. Thank you. Y'all are right, this guy is ahead of the pack for sure.

Still, I have to say there hasn't been a singer to beat Billy Eckstine yet. :)

I listened to the link that you provided and it was HORRIBLE! That "music" would absolutely drive me up the wall if I had to listen to it for more than five minutes. It was repetitive, and boring. The chord progressions were unimaginative.

Of course, part of the problem may be that I stopped listened to a Mozart CD so that I could click on the Seal link that you provided. Listen to Mozart if you want real talent.

I'm not saying Seal is one of the masters by any means. In his defense, a MIDI file of that song doesn't do it justice, but I prefer music with a lot more edge.

Classical and Metal both have the edge I like. I give Seal credit for being talented, not a virtuoso.

Seal is a great musician - I especially liked "Crazy."

Damn fine tune.
