Guys seriously, get a clue have you never used a messenger service and used abbreviations. This post is meant to be informal and I was treating it as such. My IQ is 129, and I know how to use the 133t video game language while you sit in the dark so either learn the language or BACK OFF.

I might get blasted for saying this...so I'll choose my words carefully....
BUT.... because of the very nature of the culture on FR, a slightly older crowd is attracted to it. This is a GOOD thing indeed! However, I'm 41 and I know from rubbing elbows with others 10 years older than me that a good many older people don't "plug in" to the net culture.
I assisted migrating the old 26 net over to MILNET when it was still ARPANET, and instead of DNS we were using /etc/hosts and distributing the thing twice a day! I watched "archie" come and go....gopher came and went. FTP has been replaced by anonymous scp, sftp, and, cvs.
From what I've seen....although a good many people ten years older (and older!) than me embrace the technology and learn to use it well enough, the cut off for the embrace of the culture seems to be about 34 as best I can tell. That's not a "set" age, but rather a general number.
It's sort of like the gaming culture and being in an ET clan, or Halo. :-) Have you ever tried to explain something like THAT to your Mom or Dad? :-)
I'm only saying this so that you won't get angry on account of people who just don't understand, and so maybe people will go a little easier on you.
But this CAN be a rough place. GET some "thick skin" and don't run off.

Sure sounds hostile to me. You must be a "newb". Anyone who has been around for more than a couple of hours knows this is not how we do things here. If you want to sound illiterate why not go back to your instant messaging or gaming forums. We're a little more formal around here. It's how we separate the idiots from everyone else.
You need to read up on proper etiquette for posting here on FR. This is not a public site. It is private property and we are all here by invitation only, which can be revoked at any time. Get a clue!
Another thing we don't do is waste bandwidth with stupid questions. If you have to ask why we think gun control is lunacy, chances are you are a TROLL or extremely immature. Why not just look for gun threads and post to them? There are an abudance of them, all you have to do is look.

I use MSN messenger all the time and know the abbreviations/codes/shorthands and l33t. Welcome to FR :)
