High School Senior Prank gone Awry...
http://heritage.littletonpublicschools.com/ ^ | 5/7/2005 | Ramstein75

Earlier this week 50-100 students participated in a senior prank at Heritage High School (Colorado)...the "prank" involved throwing flour while running disruptively through the "freshmen" hallway...this has apparently been a long standing tradition at that school for many years...from first hand accounts, previous students have done the same thing and suffered little or no consequences...the new principal at this school has had enough of this "tradition"...several senior students were suspended for a few days (right before graduation)...what is worse, in my opinion, is that the Littleton (Colorado) Police Department was called in by the school to issue tickets to these students for disorderly conduct (this school apparently can't discipline kids enough without getting the authorities involved)...Now, I am not saying that what the students did was acceptable...but I hardly think it merited suspension from school a few weeks before graduation...some of the parents of students at Heritage High School have had to deal with a lot of PC bureaucracy ever since the Columbine massacre (The shootings at another Colorado high school)...the administration at this particular high school has been so worried about alienating students from one another that they have instead resorted to a no-tolerance policy, putting fear into every student from being just what they are: teenagers...(some of the students are said to have been bribed for "snitching" on kids involved in the senior prank...which is a shame considering several Littleton Public School staff members have recently been laid off due to budget constraints)....if events like "flouring the hallways" caused physical/intentional harm to others (under-classmen,staff) that is one thing (yes it might require some clean up, which those caught should be responsible for)...but it has been a tradition for many years at Heritage...Don't we all remember being a senior in high school and earning the right to uphold the "traditions" that those before us carried on?...Do these students that were given tickets deserve to have a possible criminal record for this?...Isn't suspension right before graduation enough?...everyone always complains about losing our liberties in America...no wonder the young people in this great nation are worried about such things...the people who are teaching them are making them that way. (There are even rumors that the suspended students may not be able to participate in their commencement ceremony...What a disgrace if true!!!

I am sick and tired of what is creeping into the fabric of our society...this is another example of an administration in our eductional system not using COMMON SENSE when it is needed...I know of this particular situation from a very close source but can't reveal who...just wanted some comments from the great people out in Freeper Land!!! Please FREEP Heritage High School (Littleton, Colorado)...the Rocky Mountain News, the Denver Post, Gov. Bill Owens, Littleton Police Department....Remember: NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!!!

Do you realize what the penalties can be for contributing to second-hand flour ingestion? This is definitely a case of First Degree Food Pollution, not to mention a callous disregard for the wheat stalks that gave their lives only to be displayed in a high school circus. The death penalty exists for a reason, and the teenage hooligans are deserving of the same. No excuses. Call in the LAW.

If flour is outlawed, only outlaws will have flour.

Indeed. What if one of the students suffered from Celiac's disease. It could have been awful.

Boy, glad I graduated 50 years ago. We gave a goat exlax and then locked him in the principal's office over nite!! One class ran panties and bra up the flag pole. One class poured a barell of oil on the school concrete porch, and on and on. Principal made the senior boys clean his office, sure glad I am female!!!

Gee, our school must have been tame, I don't recall anyone destroying private or public property, just because graduation was around the corner.

That darn flour probably ruined the 60 year old tile flooring...if the students trampling on it didn't, the flour surely would!

There was no public or private property destroyed. Just a lot of cleaning up done by the classes.

Don't know about ruining the tiles or marble but flour sure would make it slippery. It would also add a lot of unnecessary extra work for the janitors when so many schools are strapped for funds. Why couldn't the kids have been a help instead of detriment?

Wow, that was lucky then, that the principal's office was empty when they had the goat locked up in there over night after giving it exlax! I suppose if someone did that and locked the goat in your house over night, you wouldn't mind at all, right?

No, just raised by a mother that taught me to be respectful of property that didn't belong to me.

Me too...c'mon...these students didn't start this senior tradition...they are just passing the torch...the previous classes used to use crisco and then flour..they actually made less of a mess then the old days
