In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
Noun
Pronunciation: Thaw/my/turd . Oh, excuse me. Thaw/my/turj.
Etymology: [Greek thaumatourgos : thauma, thaumat-, wonder + ergon, work; see werg- in Indo-European Roots.]
1) A performer of miracles or magic feats.
Thank you, Arghie!!!
I'm glad to see some backlash from parents in Montgomery County - but because it is Montgomery County that "curriculum" doesn't surprise me.
Thank goodness there are other places in the country with public schools that are not very different than the one you attended - I live in Accomack County partly because of the public school system here.
The district I lived in when in Dover is not very much different than the one described in this article. The biggest difference being the parents don't care. That district lives up to every horrible stereotype that can be made about public schools.
HEE HEE
A couple of us hijacked a Laura Bush bashing thread this afternoon and started talking gardening!!!!!!
you would think it would go hand-in-hand to EXPLAIN current events if'n they are going to be discussed....
liberals don't acknowledge that there is such a thing as moral relativism, why would they define it and discuss it?
good point.
i have them occasionally ; )
Oh my gosh T! Is your daughter ok? She has had some bad luck with driving hasn't she? Was she driving or just a passenger?
Mr. Cook, PE, I have no idea what you just said. Of course that could be the rum interfering with my compis mentis(?)
I need to find a job soon--drinking rum before 6:00 is just wrong.
thanks, she knows what it is, and we have discussed it, she just felt under pressure (it is not something that comes easy to her to speak up as the lone conservative voice in that class, bc she is shy and quiet to begin with) and said she wasn't very articulate in her explanation. that's why i said in future we need to have mental soundbites prepared on these topics that they are discussing, so she can explain to the dim bulbs in her class with some buzzwords etc. But thanks, i will send this on to her just for general purposes.
All us thaumaturge-lovers need a Harry Potter ping.
Well I am now, officially, a geek........... we have tickets to the 12:01 am showing of "Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith"
even when me and my buds HAD to go see each Lord of the Rings on opening night - we waited for a comfortable time. You are a geek. No wonder Robt. like you!
Mazeltov!!
Saw LOTR on the opening days as well.......and own all three movies.........lol.......... but I'm doing this one for my son - he rarely asks for anything.
not the first parent to blame their own silly behavior on "I'm doin' it fer the chillren," are ya?
OMG you are going in the middle of the night??? your son has geekified you beyond all belief. he would absolutely love robt's daughter i think she and her friends are into that stuff aren't they robt? or was it just LOTR?
Well my freeper friend Kassie and her son are equally as geeky as me and my son.........so we're going together and she and I are going to sleep on the back row.........
i am picturing you two with rollers in your hair and big fuzzy slippers, snoring in the back row!
