Favorite Conservative Movies?
Posted on 05/04/2005 2:51:42 PM PDT by rogermonroe
I'm a liberal but growing increasingly disenchanted with the left. I'm also a movie fan. I'm looking for a list of the movies most beloved by conservatives, movies that support conservative ideals, films that make a good argument for conservatism. I figured this was the place to go. If you were making such a list, what would be on it? Rambo? Red Dawn? What?
TOPICS: Music/Entertainment; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: conservative; fave; favflix; favmovies; favorite; flicks; flix; movie; movies; pix; popcorn

The works of C.S. Lewis are not bad either. I sure hope they do not tamper with the story line in the upcoming movie.

An oldie along the same lines is Patton. Another is Mel Gibson's The Patriot and another, which I cannot even recall the name for is about Joe Clark, the principal who turned around a drug and crime infested high school in one of New Jersey's worst districts.

Greatly looking forward to the Naria movies. We read the entire series to each of our children when they were young. I'm listening to the CDs of the stories now, and whenever Aslan shows up, I get a lump in my throat. Lewis' writing was that powerful, and that intimately insightful of the true God and Savior.

Remember the ads for Return of the King in 2003?

Joe Clark, the principal who turned around a drug and crime infested high school in one of New Jersey's worst districts. Lean on Me with Morgan Freeman, which included song of the same name in the soundtrack. Good pick!

Are we talking PC conservative here? Or theoretical perfect world conservative?

Seems like a lot of good "let's go fight the noble war" conservative movies but not so many "let's stay home and hunker down"/Pat Buchanan conservative movies. Am I in the wrong neighborhood for those?
These are great though. Keep 'em coming. And thanks!

I haven't seen it posted yet, so I'll say "Saving Private Ryan." Duty to country, Honor to fellow comrades-in-arms; good, solid conservative values personified.

Yes amazing that it was Tolken who converted Lewis to Christianity. I believe that Lewis dedicated one of his books to him.
Here is a little know fact about Lewis, he died on the same day JFK did.
