FOFL. I hear ya... their "restoring" was more like changing. :) I'm inclined to agree with your mother. IMO, trying to appeal to and make room for the masses is a mistake for some venerable institutions like Churchill Downs. The major Gala events, pre and post Derby, have been "dumbed down" in recent years by Hollywood riffraff. The place was just fine for 132 years.... it didn't look broken to me. LOL Smooooooches. :)
All that being said, ..... who woulda thunk a 50 to 1 long shot would win it. :)

I'm not impressed with the changes at Churchhill Downs either, and I take it rather personally, it being a landmark going back to my childhood. I even worked a season there. I think it's rather obscene.

Charismatic went off at 60-1 and darned near took the Triple Crown in 2000 (I believe it was). And I am proud to say that I called that horse to win the Derby.
