but nobody I know of was hung... shunned but not hung.

John Proctor was my 8th great grandfather, through my father's mother side. His wife was also accused of being a witch, and she would have hung, but for being pregnant....they were to hang her after she gave birth....but in between times, the new judges took over and did away with the Witch Trials.
