A WACKY inventor from Marlow Bottom may quit the village amid fears that he is the victim of a hate campaign after his house was vandalised.
Lyndon Yorke named Britain's most eccentric man was dismayed to find a World War Two gun turret, which had adorned the roof of his garage, smashed on the ground.
Just three days earlier, the 55-year-old had received an anonymous letter claiming to speak on behalf of neighbouring residents, which asked him to remove the aircraft memorabilia because it was causing house prices to plummet.

More vandalism in rural England. The victim was voted the Most Eccentric fella in the UK.
So, what do you think the chances are that the vandals are some peacenick anti-war group?
We don't want you here, but we won't tell you who 'we' are!
Sounds like a anti-gun coward to me!
Maybe he needs to remount the turret, rebuild it to perfect working order, and pop the next guy that tries to knock it down again!
Articles like this make me glad my ancestors decided to leave England. :)
My thoughts are this:
Just how stupid is it to take on someone who was voted as the most eccentric in the country? This guy is an eccentric inventor and someone has decided to tangle with him; that is as bright as a troll trying to post porn on FR. I see someone being captured in an unusual trap in the near future.
Unusual? YES! Painful? hopefully :)

Well, there are many surplus stores where you can buy all kinds of stuff. There is a cool Military Surplus store in Big Spring, Texas that had a seat from a UH-1D in the display window (the seat was for sale). They offer stuff that you would never imagine you would see in far west Texas. Also, there is a really cool surplus store between Big Spring and Midland (the names escapes me at the moment). This store has lots of vehicles and equipment. They once had a deactivated Hawk launcher complete with three inert missiles.
It never occured to me to anywhere near Midland, but you've just given me two fun reasons to visit the area.
You might want to contact these folks:

(this is the store that I mentioned which is located in Stanton which is mid-way between Midland and Big Spring)
Well, Midland is home to the American Airpower Heritage Museum ( www.airpowermuseum.org/ ) and the CAF ( http://www.commemorativeairforce.org/ ). Two excellent reasons to go to Midland Texas.
While you are there, visit Michael's Charcoal Grill where they make excellent hamburgers made with ground sirloin. Also, the whole joint is aviation themed (you pick-up your order at "gates").
